It occurs to me that I haven't posted in awhile. Here are pictures from the last month or two. Including trying out the ATVs when dh got them in at the shop, playing in the snow we had a few weeks ago, and just playing here at home.

Ashlyn's currently doing "crafts" that, as far as I can tell, involves cutting pieces of paper into small pieces and then taping them back together. As she was working on this, she told me "I like doing crafts, especially at home where the teachers at Sabbath School don't tell me how to do it" hee hee. We're in Indiana visiting dh's grandparents. The girls were very nervous about coming out here, wouldn't really talk about it, but it kept coming out in lots of acting out last week, and anytime they were upset about anything they would say how much they didn't want to come on this trip, yadda yadda. I'd turned the girls' computer off this morning because we've been having trouble w/ M (the little girl who is now joining us for "preschool") wanting to play on the computer instead of joining us for circle time and such, ( I'm systematically removing distractions and it's working to get her more into the swing of things LOL). As originally planned (before Mom & Dad realized they could plan their vacation such that we went up & met them a week ago) we took the girls to Sesame Place Thurs & yesterday. Drove up Thurs morning, so were there from about noon on, then all day yesterday & drove home late last night. . . why yes, I *am* exhausted, even if Dad did all the driving ( Read more... )

I keep forgetting to post, the girls got to watch cows being milked this past week. I've been meaning to do it for awhile now, the farm where we buy our milk had said we could come, but milking time is later in the day than we normally go to buy milk & it just hadn't worked into our schedule to go at the later time. My "eat anything" kids have become more picky this summer & one of the things they've decided they don't like is "squash" (which, is what I've always called both zucchini & yellow crookneck squash) I'd been thinking I should try steaming it (instead of stir frying, which is by far MY favorite way to eat it) and see if they liked it better that way ( Read more... )

VBS was this past week. We had between 150 & 173 kids each night, and I don't know how many volunteers to wrangle all the kids. The girls had a BLAST and are already talking about next year. In SS yesterday their teacher asked all the kids to draw their favorite part of VBS and the girls had a horrible time deciding . . . "but I loved it all!" They ( Read more... )

Sat. night we went to the Antietam Battlefield fireworks on a chartered bus, courtesy of the local paper (they charter a bus & take their advertisers (of which, Byrd Auto was one) to & from the fireworks.  I was abit nervous about keeping the kids enteratined while we waited for the fireworks & such, but they did pretty well. Yesterday we took the girls to our city's Independence Day celebration. It's an all afternoon celebration at the big downtown park, I think there was alot of other stuff scattered around but we stayed in the kid's area all day.
