I'd turned the girls' computer off this morning because we've been having trouble w/ M (the little girl who is now joining us for "preschool") wanting to play on the computer instead of joining us for circle time and such, ( I'm systematically removing distractions and it's working to get her more into the swing of things LOL). So, just now Lexie went to play on the computer & it wouldn't "turn on" when she pushed the monitor button. So I told her to push the button on the CPU, which she did, and then she told me "it's kabooting" hee hee, there are so few words that they mix up anymore, I love the few remaining ones . . . of course, I told her it was rebooting so she'll probably not say kabooting anymore, but still . . .
And while I'm posting, preschool is going well overall. As mentioned above, M has trouble with being distracted by the girls' toys and such, but it's lessening, both because I'm removing some distractions, the dog now gets quiet time in my room during "school" Precious is not impressed with this, I need to go hunting and find some dog treats so she gets SOMETHING special out of the deal, but she was just too much in our faces when we sat down for circle time & such, she always has been but my girls can generally ignore her, M couldn't, and once Precious had been over there with us, even if I could get Precious to move away, M was tuned into what she was doing instead of the story or song we're doing), and today I turned the computer off, and A&L have been slowly removing their 'special" toys from the family room, so that's helping too LOL, and also because she's over here regularly so there's less "novelty" in the girls' toys.
MOST of the time, Ashlyn & Lexie do an amazing job of taking on a "teacher" role (imagine that, my bossy kids . . .) and really interact well with both M and her younger brother J. They've both had their moments of being selfish & tired of sharing, but overall, it's gone well.
Today we made bread, I had to laugh, M wanted nothing to do with sticking her hands in the sticky bread dough. She happily helped dump the flour & such into the bowl, and helped stir it, but when I handed them each a section of dough to knead she just kind of looked at me like "you expect me to TOUCH that stuff?" so I asked if she wanted to watch & she said yes, and proceeded to watch the girls & I knead the bread. Then I asked if she wanted to help make it into balls to put on the pan (making rolls) and again she gave me this "are you nuts?!?!" look, and quickly agreed that she'd just watch that part too. BUT she was very proud of herself for "making bread" and happily ate most of a roll w/ peanut butter for lunch. Which is rather impressive since she's super picky and I'm guessing has never had 100% whole wheat bread before, and probably not natural (ie. no sugar & such) peanut butter either.
