I think I broke my blog! I edited my most recent post over on my blogspot blog, and everything seemed to be just fine, but now when I try to view the blog I get "The file / cannot be found. Well, here's something I didn't realize (probably would have if I'd thought about it, but I managed not to): on satellite tv, the Weather Channel doesn't give you "Local on the 8s" like it does on cable. And now they've changed the forecast -- it was supposed to be a cooler 91 degrees on Wednesday, but now it says 97 today, 96 tomorrow, 95 Wednesday. My little Firefox weather extension has the bright-red-flaming-thermometer icon for the next three days in a row. Today it was something like 92 degrees + 60% humidity midday. That's nasty hot. When I walked out of the library after work it occurred to me that what it felt like was this: it felt like being stuck inside the digestive system of a very large animal.

Only one more day of this crap, supposedly. Thank goodness.

It's 92 degrees out, with sort of average humidity (it doesn't take even that much to make it uncomfortable, though). It's supposed to be even warmer for the next several days, getting up to 97 on Wednesday. I'm sure the heat index is well over 100 already ( Read more... )

So I fell asleep on the couch somewhere shortly after 11 pm (the late news was on), woke up somewhere in the middle of the night and stumbled into the bedroom, and woke up again at 5 am. 11:30 and the fireworks are going like gangbusters right outside my house. Big loud ones. Legally they're allowed to set them off until midnight on the 4th, so I can't even really complain.
