In my email this evening:
[arielblue],
We are writing you regarding your SonyMusicStore order. Your order was supposed to ship to arrive on or around last week's release date, but due to a problem at our distribution partner, the shipment was delayed until today.
You will receive a shipment confirmation email either later today or tonight that will include a tracking number.
We are extremely sorry for the problem and deeply regret any inconvenience it may have caused you.
To partially compensate you for the delay, we have reduced the price of your order by 15% and removed the shipping charge. As a further courtesy, we are also providing you a coupon good for 15% off your next order.
Your coupon code is: [redacted].
The coupon is good for a single purchase and expires on 11/30/2007.
Please note that the Magic Lyric Booklet may ship in a separate package than the CD. If you have not already received the booklet, you should receive it either later this week or sometime next week.
Once again, we are truly sorry for any inconvenience this delay may have caused you. We understand that this type of problem is simply unacceptable and have taken steps to prevent it from occurring in the future.

Well, this sucks. How much does this suck? Even with the 15% discount and free shipping, it's still no cheaper than I could have gotten it locally. And the freebie lyric booklet is kind of nice, but it's not all THAT. (Having not seen the booklet that comes with the CD yet, obviously -- grrrr! -- I don't know, but the freebie booklet might just be a larger-format version of the CD booklet. It's about 5"x7" and it's kind of cool, but I would not willingly have chosen to wait an extra week and a half for my CD in order to get it.)
So annoying. And definitely the last time I pre-order something from Sony.
In happier news, I have a bottle of Red Plum juice from Nantucket Nectars (yeah, I found some good stuff at Bloomingfoods yesterday!), and a pile of new poetry books from the library, and the need to procrastinate on getting a few things done. So I'm going to take my juice and disappear into the study and burn a little incense and read poetry for a while.
