i'm having a really nice day.  we had food at a fun cuban restaurant with great music and then we went ice skating.  zoom! the ice rink was a parking lot covered with layers of frozen water.  MN makes rinks in many places throughout the twin cities, and sets up portable rooms with heating an heaps of skates you can borrow.  MN is great in many ( Read more... )

when painting, watching the shapes in an eyelid, a nostril, the curve of a lip, the angle of eyelash, plane of jaw, and knowing these things glow with grace, and trying to place that in pigment on paper so that years from now, when the face turns to something else, the eye falls on something else, the world can still see these perfections.  my eyes ( Read more... )

fortunately, they seem to be similar to leopard sharks, which are somewhat friendly toward humanity (at least not aggressively antithetical.)  but how long will it be until other sharks catch on?
