Wonderful Wednesday!
What a whirlwind day! Heard from Big Brothers...they will be coming out in a week or so to meet with AJ (and me) and decide if they have a Big Brother for him. He may be resistant...AJ is a very private kinda soul...but oh! what a blessing it would be to have a man in his life. He is almost a teen. He shouldn't have to traverse these next few difficult years alone.
Next I zipped off in search of flower pots for the porch steps. First I found a terrific little square one with stripes of blue and cream and turquoise! So there is my turquoise 'accent' I wanted. Next I found a more traditional shape pot in a meld of blues and greens that goes very nicely with the square one. I need two more...so the search continues. Hoping to find a couple with hints or splashes of turquoise, but primarily corals and yellows and other bright and beachy colors. Got potting soil so in the morning I will be planting the first pot with my poppy anemones. Hoping to find some "Blue" penstamon and there is a snapdragon I have seen that is the loveliest aqua with pale yellow ... and I still can't find its name! If anyone knows please let me know.
Then I found the coolest find ever (so far) at a resale/closeout shoppe...an accent chair! Kinda modern, sleek, rounded, in a bright coral/persimmon. Just the cutest thing and I had to have it. So now it is here. Tomorrow I want to get a throw cover for the sofa...just a nice neutral one. Maybe a solid sand color, or a light aqua. Something subtle that I can pull some coral and turquoise accents into the room without overpowering its light, beachy feel. Very excited!
AJ loved the chair immediately and has made his 'bid' for it...that is, whenever I get 'real' living room furniture he gets the little coral chair for his room. Works for me :) He may have to wait a while though. Heaven only knows when I will be able to find--or afford--actual furniture.
Tomorrow D goes to the West Ashley HS and takes her entrance/placement exams. About 4 hours. While she is there, I am going to look for the last two pots for the steps, a shower nozzle for the hose,and get the last of the paint I need (I want to paint the bookcase also... colors depending a bit on finding a sofa cover).
Then a trip to the Piggly Wiggly for SC golden rice and a couple of GF items I need for Ashley.
I got to do some plotting and worldbuilding for Khyr today and another chapter edited for my writing buddy. Not enough actual writing though. But the kids are winding down...so Khyr's turn is at hand.
