Some things going on during June, July and August 2010, from my journal books and Livejournal:

June 2010

- Jenny is expecting her and Andy's first baby (the future Adam) in about 6 months.

- I paint the trim on the house.

- Mass murder shooting spree in Cumbria... Derrick Bird.

- Jenny and Andy attend a Paul McCartney concert in Glasgow.

- Linda is supporting Argentina in the World Cup, as she always does.

- I go to an interview at the Arla milk factory near Lockerbie, even though I have plans to start my MSc in Applied Carbon Management in the Autumn at the University of Glasgow campus at the Crichton.

- Lucy, a dog from where we keep the horse, goes missing. Linda helps spread the word via "missing dog" posters.

- Dad is in Natick doing work on the house. He has doctor appointments about a medical issue. He advises me on the stock market. He will be visiting us in Scotland later in the summer.

- Linda has been given eye drops to reduce pressure in her right eye.

July 2010

- Linda sees a homeopath near Kippford.

- Police stop me for not wearing a seat belt. £60.

- Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip visit Dumfries and I attend to watch from the crowd. It is for the official opening of Dumfries' "Plainstanes". The first time I have seen the Queen, but she didn't come close to where I was... but I take some pictures.

- Walk with Tess and Linda at Sandyhills. More Pictures.

- We see Jenny's latest baby scan pix.

- Meggie gets out of her stable and gallops down the long driveway to catch up with her horse friend, Ryan.

- My father arrives for a visit. We go on a few excursions, including:

- We drive around the countryside and visit Thomas Carlisle's birthplace in Ecclefechan.

- We attend a BBQ with friends near Kirkbean.... Elizabeth, Ian and family.

- We take a day trip to the hills at Wanlockhead. We go on the tour inside the mine.

- We go to Kippford with Dad and do the walk along the Rough Firth to Rockcliffe and back. Linda visits her homeopath. We then continued on to drive to Bladnoch whisky distillery.

August 2010

- With Dad visiting, we go on a day trip to Beamish living history museum near Newcastle.

- Dad gets a special train ticket to travel around Scotland for a week.... to places like Arbroath, Aberdeen, Newtonmore, Perth...

- Drove down to the Lake District. Linda wanted to get some Peter Rabbit / Beatrix Potter things for the baby Jenny is expecting. The Lake District was PACKED, so it was hard to park. We come home with Peter Rabbit-themed baby dishes, decorations, etc etc.

- Dad returned from up north. We visit Auchencairn on the coast, Balcary Bay, Orchardton Tower... and later have a get-together with the McNays and Hainings.

- Meteor shower

- Day trip to northern Cumbria... Maryport, Whitehaven, Cockermouth, etc.

- Day trip to Culzean Castle in Ayrshire, and to Alloway.

- Dad heads down to Manchester to do some family history research before his plane to Arizona.

- New tenants in the Ellisland Drive house.

- Linda was cleaning with bleach and accidentally splashed some in her eyes so we go to the emergency room where they are flushed out.

- Lucy, the lost dog from Meggie's farm, is found to have died.
