More Squee of the Trek and other varieties!
Item the first...
I did get to Trekology with idontlikegravy and Garrett was just as wonderful as I thought he would be. He'd read my post on facebook mentioning that I'd been trying 13 years to meet him and actually asked me why I'd not managed to get to the Manchester con in April 2000 - I told him an edited version of the pint of water/convention ban story; he thought it was funny thank goodness. I think gravy was kind of amused at my bouncing and squeaking.
I talked about SOPHIE to both him and Chase Masterson (Leeta the Dabo girl from DS9) as they both are involved in anti-bullying work (Chase more than Garrett); they were suitably appalled (which sounds weird, but I'm sure you know what I mean). I gave Chase a Sophie badge (I didn't take any spare wristbands with me and it would have been too gross to give the sweaty one off my wrist).
We were hot and tired, so we didn't stay for the party.
Item the second...
Had a great weekend with idontlikegravy, busy day on Saturday was followed by a nice chill out day on Sunday before she had to go back on Monday. We watched The Extraordinary Adventures of Adèle Blanc-Sec which is a really fun film. Once I'd managed to convince my brain it didn't even want to attempt to follow the French and managed to concentrate just on the subtitles (took me about 5 minutes) I found it really easily watchable. Great film. Try and see it sometime.
Item the third...
I have a Sherlockian weekend coming up! On Sunday, I will be travelling down to London to meet up with fred_bear, one of the co-authors/betas (and the suggester of titles) of Hearts Filthy Mess. We will potentially be meeting up with other Sherlock fans and Sherlock related shenanigans may well occur. Should be great fun, I can't wait! Must remember to take my camera!
The only down side to all this is that I have a sore eye thanks to a stye underneath my upper eyelid and it is about twice its normal size. Hopefully my eye will be a bit better by Sunday as I'm taking my it to the doctors tomorrow.
