catching up

I've been too tired and preoccupied to post recently. Last weekend I went with a friend to the Outer Banks and camped. I was already beached out, but I went anyway. We had fun bouncing around in the waves and reminiscing about college stuff. The stars were beautiful. I don't usually get to see them because of trees and city lights. I wish I could remember that one thing I saw at about one in the morning. I want to identify it in my field guide, but I don't remember it. I know it was a cluster or a nebula or such, but without binoculars I couldn't tell.

I bought the best salt water taffy I've ever had on that trip. They let people sample it before buying, and they had great flavors. I wish I had gotten more of the root beer float flavored one. They were all good, but that one, the cherry cola, and the buttered popcorn flavors were my favorites. I liked the cherry best of the fruit flavors that I tried, with pineapple second. That cherry was good because it didn't taste like medicine. Another thing I bought was a bug sucker. I've looked at those in candy stores and thought about it, but this was the first time I've gotten up the courage to buy one. It was orange flavored with a cricket in it. Next challenge for me is the one with the scorpion in it. Those suckers actually are pretty good for long trips because they take a long time to suck down. I'm skipping on the worm one for now, even though mealworms are tame as far as eating bugs goes. The worm sucker is tequila flavored, and I'm not sure about that flavor.

I've been draggy this week, but I got up enough energy to do my Saturday chores a day early. I also tossed some old notebooks from college that I don't really know why I kept. I had fun looking at the doodles in them before I threw them out. I found one page where I must have been angry that day because I doodled weapons. A bomb, some acid, a morning star mace, a bamboo staff, and a whip with a mini spike ball on the end. I found another where I just randomly wrote all the cursive lower case letters in the margin and another where I filled the margins completely with infinity symbols. There were also lots of cubes, diamonds, marching band shakoes, flags, squiggles, molecules. Another funny one was of a cartoon barbell that I shaded the ball ends. I had actually gotten pretty good at shading with a pen. I need to look at the one notebook I kept to see if there are funny doodles in it.
