I'm in San Pedro Laguna, on Lake Atitlan now. I did a three-day hike here from Quetzaltenango/Xela with Quetzaltrekkers. It was a good time. Lots of going up and down hills, but wicked nonetheless. San Pedro is cheap, and it's easy to sit around doing nothing.

so, i´ve come to the conclusion that guatemala is the land of no rules. i'd had that impression based on talking to other travellers while in mexico and belize, but now that I´m here i can defintitely justify that view. whether its a hostel with a "music store" consisting of an external harddrive with a staggering amount of mp3s that they´re ( Read more... )

It's been a while since I posted to this, so I'll make it as concise as possible. I was in Playa del Carmen for a bit, then went down to Tulum. The ruins there are nothing special, small and overcrowded. But their setting on the ocean makes them worth it. Ok, so im on isla mujeres now. its a little island about 25km off the coast from cancun. its nice. i thnk i might get my PADI open water diving certificatin here. Hah! take that asthma. Its nice here, it has way less tourism than cancun, as theres no giant resorts. I was in cancun for all of an hour,and i didnt go to the hotel zone at all ( Read more... )

san cristobal de las casas is cold. damn cold. its like 5 degrees at night, and 15 during the day. what happened to the hot mexican weather that i was used to. stupid mountains

im in Guanajuato right now. its a swank town. its built in a ravine and all the houses are all over the place and really close together. Its a very pedestrian friendly central area, all the traffic streets are one way, the ones for westbound traffic are above ground, and the eastbound traffic is routed through a series of crazy tunnels underground ( Read more... )
