The last two days have just been reading renaissance art and social history. It's been hard work, but hard work that doesn't make me stressed and anxious, so it's been a welcome change of pace. "Twenty-seven years old is an odd age when it comes to style. I'm still drawn to cute dresses but when I put them on I feel like I'm trying to look 20. The past two days reading this Early Modern Europe book on the couch with the pooch have been boring, but awfully cozy. I guess I should count my blessings that I get to stay inside on this winter day, snuggle on the couch with my new blanket and my dog, and read about history. Just finished the first book of the Hunger Games. I read the last third or so of it in one sitting just now. I didn't think I'd be able to finish it before we head out to see the movie (again, this time with friends) tonight, but I did and I'm glad. SLU hosted the Medieval Academy of America conference this week - while not as large as Kalamazoo as far as medieval conferences go, it is FAR more important and pretentious. Hah! My quick 750-1000 word book summary is turning into nearly a 10 page review.
It's impossible to summarize a 600 page book covering Europe, Byzantium, and the Middle East from the years 400-1000 in just 750 words! Impossible!
