So, I'm here in my new apartment, and it's been quite an overwhelming day, but VERY productive. I liked driving out here with Dad, that was nice, even thought a lot of the drive was quiet. We laughed at the plethora of oil, windmills, and Jesus billboards in Kansas. I texted Sammie about all the hawks, which she got a kick out of! We got to St. Louis around 3:30, and after a worrisome moment involving driving through the northern part of the city, and whether we can back a U-Haul out of the Del Coronado loading driveway, the unloading began! With the freight elevator, the flatbed cart, and the shopping cart, moving in was such a BREEEEZE. Went amazingly easily. Except for the Big Couch. I put it in caps because it was such an interesting ordeal getting that thing INTO the apartment, Casey's hotdog push it through the angled doorway plan should not have physically or mathmatically worked given the measurements. But, somehow, after lots of manuvering and breaking part of the cieling in the hallway a little bit, it magically went in! Because Casey has the ability to make the laws of physics bend to his will. "Impossible Measurements? Ha! I'm Casey Fuckin' Boland!" It was miraculous, and we still don't know how it happened. It didn't fit, but it made it in the apartment. Somehow.
Anyway, after that we took a break for a delicious sushi dinner just next door, and got the HUGE boat! Tried new stuff, and the unagi was of course delicious. It was nice after a tiring day to sit down with my new roommates and my Dad and just enjoy a food we all love and are excited about together. Woohoo. We then took Dad back to the Water Tower Hotel, and I was sad to hug him goodbye, (after we took a hilariously wrong left turn getting there -
Amy: "Dad, we're not turning here..."
Dad: "oh look the arch!" *turns left toward it*)
When we got back, we used the great sliders to move the furniture around to our liking in the living room and found the perfect compromise to me not wanting a couch in the middle of the room, and Danielle and Casey wanting a good angle to be able to see the TV, and Casey needing to be directly across from the TV. He was hurmorously obnoxious about it all! I'm very pleased with the set up, and as Mom would say, "flexibility points!" for not insisting that there's only one way to set up the room. I think this is the best.
I am very excited to get everything unpacked and to make this really feel like a home.
If you see Casey or Danielle tomorrow, tell them to break a leg at their callbacks!
