Have not seen either episode of Heroes yet (they're DVRed) so am avoiding most of this post, but I'm glad your parents have their power back! I was wondering how things were going for them. :)
The show has always been sloppily done to me. But at least in season 1, there were enough moments of awesome overall to offset it somewhat. Last night, with boring Sylar again (though the 'that's disgusting' line was kind of amusing), Mohinder being even stupider than usual, Hiro acting like it was actually him who'd had his brain sushi'd, and Nathan going all evangelistic/Messiah... not exactly striking that balance. I'll keep tuning in for now because it's still reasonably entertaining mindless fluff, but TSCC is definitely my Monday night anchor now.
I think season one had the shiny newness to distract from the badness. I had pretty much the same criticisms from the start, but it was fun to see characters meet each other for the first time and such.
I don't have an alternate show during this time slot (couldn't get into SCC), so I'll keep watching, but it's not moving up in my estimation.
I agree with pretty much everything you said about Heroes. I'm sticking around for now, but we'll see. The Sylar thing just drives me insane and I have no idea why anyone likes him. He cannot act to save his life and I'm getting really tired of his whole shtick about his killing people being not his fault. It's been driving me insane.
I usually just acknowledge the bad and don't let it bother me, since I'm not giving it my full attention anyway. I just need to state it for the record once a season. :-D
My interest in Heroes slowly waned last year, to nil this year, so I haven't seen it. Probably don't intend to. I was very disappointed in Sylar's character. In Season 1, he showed a lot of potential to become a complex, interesting villain, with a Mommy-inspired complex. I could have easily seen his evil psychotics explained away in backstory and plot, but then Season 2 came, and he was almost a non-thought. The brother/sister thing was stupid, and completely undeveloped/unexplored seeing as Sylar killed the brother, and then with bringing in Adam as the new "bad" - while interesting, put a pause on Sylar's promising development more than it should have.
Also? I hated the whole Amnesia bit with Peter. Too soap opera for me.
