Apparently it is the done thing to write an intro post when one becomes friends with a number of new peoples. I'm not usually one to do intros in communities, let alone my own journal, so bear with me

You are I are a lot more alike that I thought. I breastfeed, babywear, have co-slept (and still do in the mornings), vaccinate, and use disposable diapers. I generally follow AP principles because they feel natural and right. I do not use CIO techniques, That's me except we have her crib sidecarred to our bed so we always co sleep. I also use cloth diapers part time.
I spend my evenings on xbox live and like all sorts of games. The latest I've been playing a lot of is MW2 multiplayer.
My hubby and I are also a bit of homebodies and don't do too much exciting stuff anymore. We don't mind so much but I like to liven it up a bit here and there.
What people choose to do or believe is their own business. I may or may not debate a point, but I'm always friendly about it. I could have written this too.
My husband is a really light sleeper, so Penny and I slept in the guest room/nursery for about 3.5 months before I transitioned her to the crib. That was hard for me but we were waking each other up. After a trip where the two of us coslept the whole time and she got sick on top of it, she was constantly waking so now her crib mattress is on the floor, I go in (usually several times a night) and roll away when she falls asleep, and in the morning when it's light and she won't sleep much longer I pick her up and the two of us snuggle in the guest bed for her first feed and doze off together.
Now that I have the hang of diapers, I'm interested in cloth diapers, but stuck right at the beginning--I know nothing. I joined clothdiapering but it seems to be mostly cute baby butts and trading/selling. Not really useful for someone trying to figure out exactly what the hell a prefold is or what brands seem to work best. I figure the next time I'm pregnant I'll work harder and actually seek out knowledge, but I'm okay cruising by for now

Cry It Out--where you ignore a baby crying for a set amount of time in order to "teach" them to settle themselves. Most people do it 5 minutes, go in, 10 minutes, go in...but some people just leave their kids to cry indefinitely. Either way it's not something I'm particularly on board with, and studies show it can cause permanent changes in the brain from when the baby thinks it's been abandoned and stops crying only because they give up all hope.
Once my baby monitor's battery failed while I was sleeping and I woke up and groggily heard an odd noise in the distance, like a fire truck. Realized it was my daughter screaming hysterically because I wasn't awake to soothe her before it got that bad. I went running in and cuddled and rocked and hugged and wondered, who in the hell can *deliberately* leave their kid to cry like that? I felt so horrible even though she probably hadn't been crying for more than a few minutes.
Ooo...yeah. I'm all for teaching independence to children at a point where those steps are age appropriate. I've never seen that as getting across the idea of independence so much as abandonment or not being loved/cared for. I think little ones start their first steps towards learning independence at around toddlerhood. Up until then, you really need to respond
