When do reserves/applications open?
Reserves open the 5 of each month at 7:00 PM EST.
They close every 8 of each month at 7:00 PM EST.
Applications open every 8 of each month at 7:00 PM EST.
They close every 15 of each month at 8:00 PM EST.
If a character has been reserved, you may still app that character!
What is your reserve application policy?
Zodion handles reserves a little bit differently than most games that have reserves.
Reserves at Zodion are public and can be placed at any time during a reserve cycle in Zodion on the Reserves Page. Reserves open three days prior to applications opening and stay open for those three days. For the exact date and time, check the top of Reserves page. When they are open, you will see the word "OPEN" in big green letters at the top of the page. As long as the green "Open" is on the page, reserves may be placed. To reserve, comment on the Reserves page.
NOTE! While we do allow reserves, we also ALLOW challenge applications to be submitted!
The Reserver is essentially given the benefit of time. For more on this, see the challenge policy below.
What is your challenge application policy?
As mentioned, we do ALLOW challenge applications to be submitted. In the event someone places a reserve on the character you want to apply for before you, we encourage to go ahead and leave a comment on the reserve page stating you would like to submit a challenge, though it's not a requirement.
For a challenge application to be valid to a known reserve, it must be submitted within 72 hours (3 days) of applications opening. Challengers will not hear any sort of response until the reserve application is submitted or applications have closed at the end of app week. Thus, if you are challenging, we ask that you please be patient and wait to contact a mod until then.
If a challenger submits an application past the 72 hour mark, their application will not be voted on unless the reserve applicant fails to apply. If the challenge application is timely, each application for that particular character will be evaluated indivually as if there were no challenge and only once final votes on the applications are in, will they be compared to one another for quality.
How will I know I've been accepted/need revisions/rejected?
Three days into the application period is when emails will be sent out to let potential players know what the result of their application is. We know the waiting time sucks, but three days isn't too long to wait. This is something subject to change. We're still new and testing out various ways to handle our application process.
Do you accept original/AU/AR characters?
No, not at this time.
Do you accept webcomic characters?
No, not at this time.
Can I apply anonymously?
Yes, you are free to use a sock journal to app. Just do not abuse this to get around the character limit.
Is there a character limit?
Applicants can reserve and apply for two characters per application round.
Overall, the character limit is set at FIVE (5) characters to a player without mod approval. However, a player may have up to SEVEN (7) with mod approval. To app past the base limit, please email us at the mod account (zodionmods(@)gmail.com) with the previous month's proof of activity for all of your other characters. You must do this every time that you wish to app past that limit.
So what is this about a zodiac sign?
Your character's zodiac sign is determined by their birthday and where it falls on western Zodiac. Each sign is associated with an element. These are important traits that will come into play in the game. Please list your character's sign on your application.
My character has no canon birthday, what is their zodiac sign?
If your character does not have a birthday assigned to them in their canon, it is up to the player to assign them a birthday and thus a sign based on the character's prevalent characteristics. HERE are all the zodiac signs to choose from. Once selected, please list your character's assigned birthdate and sign on your application.
What sort of media do you allow applications from?
The only thing that is not accepted are webcomics. Everything else is pretty much fair game. Please keep in mind that if there is no English translation of foreign media, your app will be rejected. Fan translations are accepted, just be sure to notate that on your app.
What's all this about powers?
As this is rather lengthy for a faq post, please go here for all your questions regarding powers for the game.
Can I apply for a non-humanoid character?
Yes, but on entering Zodion the gods will have made them "adult humanoid" in appearance with fully functioning naughty bits for worship compatibility purposes. Traits that largely do not interfere with this might be able to stay (i.e. vampire teeth, animal ears/tails, horns and so on) while others would be changed significantly (transformers, some x-men). If you have any questions on which traits a character may or may not keep, we recommend you email the mods (zodionmods(@)gmail.com).
Note: we do not accept applications for animal characters that do not show a clear sentience and basic human-level thought process.
What about non-human biological quirks?
If it is something a real life human is incapable of doing it would be considered akin to a power and stripped away lest you choose to keep that as your character's one power. Again, if you have questions or doubts, contact one of the mods (zodionmods(@)gmail.com).
What if my character isn't 18 in canon?
We do not accept applications for characters that are younger than 15 in age, no exceptions.
If your character is between the ages of 15 and 17 however, they will be judged on a case-by-case basis which will be largely dependent on the suitability section of your application. We request this section to make sure a character will be able to both mentally and emotionally handle the strain of being forced into an environment where they will be expected to act as independent adults and will have to face adult themes and concepts. If accepted, the character will be physically aged to an 18-year old body.
If there is no canon age for your character but they appear young (both physically and mentally), you will be asked to fill out the suitability section.
Can I apply for more than one character from a series?
Maybe. Playercest is boring, therefore it is dependent on the series or canon you are wishing to apply from. Larger canons are more likely to have characters that have no reason to ever interact with one another and are probably going to be okay. Smaller canons, like Ouran High School Host Club make it virtually impossible to app for two characters that would have no reason to ever interact. Can we apply for "doubles" of characters?
Yes, so long as the characters are from different canons/series, (Star Trek Kirk, for example, or FFVII!Cloud v. KH!Cloud). However, younger/older versions of the same character will not be allowed, so no Yamamoto and TYL!Yamamoto.
Is it acceptable to mix two canons (book, movie, manga, anime, etc.) when applying?
Not unless the two canon mediums are nearly identical, save for presentation. If you should have a question regarding this, please email the mods (zodionmods(@)gmail.com).
I used to play ____ here, and I want to pick them up again. Do I have to reapply?
Generally, yes. If the character has been dropped for longer than a week, you will be asked to re-apply for the character in the next application round. Nevertheless, please contact a moderator, as exceptions may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
When reapplying for characters previously held, please note if the characters will be retaining memories from their past stay or not. Also, should the characters be retaining their memories, you will need to address this in both their first and third person samples.
How are applications judged?
All members of the application team are provided access to read applications and revisions and any of them may subsequently weigh in and make a determination about the application, generally explaining their reasons for their vote. Currently, we require two matching votes of either Accept, Revise or Decline from different members of the app team to take any action. The decision based on this vote will then be made known to the applicant via email. Decision notices will start being sent out 72 hours after applications open. No notices will be sent out before then.
What does a revision request mean?
It means that while your application was considered to be strong, the app team felt that certain parts could benefit from expansion or clarification before a final decision could be made. When you get a revision request, the reply will state exactly what the app team is looking for. Should you have confusion over the exact nature of the request, please contact a mod for help. Players have 72 hours (three days) from the time the request is sent out to submit their revisions.
What happens if my application is declined?
If an app is declined, it means that you can't apply for that specific character until the next time applications open. It doesn't affect any other apps you may have submitted during any given app round, however.
Applicants have THREE (3) chances to apply for a specific character. If your application is declined THREE (3) times, we ask that you not reapply for that character in the future.
Why is it taking so long to hear back on my application?
The game is just starting so our app team is small yet and still getting its footing. Unfamiliarity by the app team with certain canons can also lengthen your wait time, as more research is involved. However, if the app cycle has closed and you have not heard back from the app team, we ask that you please contact a mod (zodionmods(@)gmail.com) not re-submit your app to the app email or question why you haven't heard back to the app email. Just contact a mod.
I have questions about how my application was judged, where can I send it?
(zodionmods(@)gmail.com). If you have received feedback on your application, you may contact the mods themselves for further elaboration. Keep in mind that they may need to defer to the application team for clarifications.
