I really think you're right about that. And now that I think about it, it was noted way back in the Epilogue of "Eclipse" (when Jacob narrated) that his way of talking was virtually identical to Bella's. Meyer's idea of "romance" is some weird cookie-cutter thing. Maybe that's why she wrote the whole "Bella sleeps with Jacob for a baby" bit. Both male leads are interchangeable.

I think that Edward didn't consider adopting because Bella wanted to keep the baby so he thought "Oh, she must want to have a child of her own". Because it never entered his pointy head that she wants *his* baby. Because yeah, if she only wanted any child, why should she care about adopting?

And I think it was implied in Jacob's thought process that he hoped that sleeping with Bella and impregnating her would help her grow to love him. Or at least he would be happy getting some action and "hearing her moan his name" or something. It was really stupid and

And Edward hates Mike's guts. I guess it's fairly obvious that a werewolf/human union is safe (since the werewolves constantly imprint and marry humans).

And I agree, Jacob's being ludicrous. Leah's right, he needs to cut the ties and get over all of this. Apparently Meyer thinks that this is an evil, evil concept though. *sigh*

And someone needs to do a fanart about that, Jacob and Bella sleeping together and her shouting out Edward's name during it. And what do you want to bet that if Meyer *did* write a Bella/Jacob sex scene, Bella would just think "Oh, it wasn't as great as with Edward".

Never mind that she's made her choice, stupid as it is.
