With the great Ganondorf ruling in Castle Town and the exalted Nabooru residing in the Spirit Temple, she, the third-in-command of the Gerudo Thieves, had been in charge of the desert fortress for the past seven years

Ganondorf walked through the halls that had been his. He had known they would be empty, but some part of the reality of it was difficult to accept. What had happened to his people, here? Some backlash from his own actions, or something resulting from his absence?
It was impossible to tell. It did not matter. The desert winds filled corridors that were empty save for his own footsteps. He would find some sign of his people, however faint. No actions against his aunts and sisters and cousins would go unpunished, even one perpetrated by the gods.
The footsteps were loud, jarring in the otherwise deserted fortress, and she heard the unknown figure's approach from a floor above and three rooms away.
As she advanced cautiously toward the sound, she who was once third in command wondered if it was friend or foe that awaited her. Surely it could not be a soldier--they would not have sent a lone one to investigate, and the steps belonged to but one person.
Down a ramped path and past a sand strewn hallway she paused to listen, verifying then that the footsteps were too heavy to be that of a sister's. This confirmed, she drew her scimitars quietly and rounded the corner, stepping quickly forward to meet the trespasser with her blades--
And upon seeing whom it was she froze for one baffled moment.
He looked different, but it had been years since she had laid eyes on him. It was him, no matter how different he looked, or what rumours had been spread. Were she any less of a warrior, a blade would have dropped clattering to the floors. As it was, there was a delay in how quickly

When she emerged his hand had fallen to the hilt of his sword, but he recognized her at the same moment she had recognized him, and by the time she knelt to him he had remembered her entire story. He remembered her as clearly as any of the warriors who had died trying to stand between the Hero and their king.
His hand fell away from the hilt of his sword. This woman had always known fealty.
"It has been a long time, lieutenant. Where are the others? Are Kotake and Koume here?"
"No, My King." Though she ached to raise her eyes and behold the man in front of her, she kept her gaze focused upon the ground. "The fortress is deserted and I do not know where the others are. I fear my sisters have been captured, or--or worse."
Though the thought crossed her mind once again, she dared not mention the possibility they had fled. She was nearly as hesitant to mention the other thing that circled in her mind, but in a more subdued tone she continued:
"They said you had been defeated. I saw with my own eyes the rubble of your tower in the castle town."
It was amazing how so much of Hyrule paralleled Cremia's home of Termina. It was all arranged differently, but so many things rang familiar to her. Still, the differences were there, and notably so, too. Instead of an ocean there was a lake, instead of a swamp there were woods, instead of snow-covered mountains there was a volcano, and instead of a barren canyon there was a barren desert. Having been drawn out by her curiosity and sense of alienation from her new locale, Cremia had been searching around to get a look at Hyrule first-hand. It was a bizarre feeling not to be tied down by her sister and responsibilities anymore. In a weird sort of way it made her feel more confident. She still worried about her friends and family back home, of course, but if there was nothing she could do, then worrying about it wouldn't do any good

Her daily patrol took her some leagues from the fortress grounds. Before the cruel sun rose in the sky, she would venture along the fringes of the Wasteland--as far as she dared before the heat came down full force from the heavens. As morning approached she would seek shelter someplace, perhaps back at the fortress itself, until after the sun had passed its zenith. Then, she would explore the craggy canyons of the desert in the afternoon and evening, returning to the stronghold upon nightfall before the cruel desert winds began to howl

Cremia blinked and looked up suddenly, seeing the Gerudo on the other side. .... A pirate? No... Cremia stood up straight and straightened out her dress, putting a hand on her hip with a bit of petulance at having her hesitancy called out so quickly.
"I'm just not in too much of a hurry to die, period. Whoever made this bridge must've been insane."
Why would a pirate be out here? In a canyon region? No, it had to be something different. The farm girl brushed her red hair back over her shoulder as she took in the woman; she had a weird presence to her.
"This bridge is the only road to and from our desert home. Though in truth, we Gerudo can cross the expanse on horseback without it."
Smiling with amusement, the third in command began to make her approach across the bridge--her hands held out somewhat, with palms outward in a symbol of non-hostility.
"I am a sister of the desert. What is it you have you come to seek, so far from your own lands?"
He walks through the narrow canyon slowly and steadily, cautiously. He knows it is far from the ideal place to be, but he wants to see if the fortress that haughty young man mentioned exists. Still, he expects an ambush.
After several long minutes, he begins to see worked stone in the distance. So, there is a fortress guarding the desert. It reminds him almost of the canyon he grew up in, though his people would never have built something so massive and heavy. However, he has to admit that what he has seen of this Hyrule indicates a much more rooted people than any in the canyon.
He shakes his head. None of that matters. Where there is any kind of settlement, there is access to water, and he doesn't have enough to chance the desert right now. He glances around to check for a potential attack and then starts to look for water.
*is pretty screwed, huh* XDgerudowarriorAugust 13 2009, 21:03:03 UTC
It was fortunate for her that she had been patrolling the upper areas of the fortress when the intruder arrived. Otherwise, it was likely she would have run into him entirely by surprise.
As it was, she spotted him from a distance, and concealed herself carefully behind some wooden crates as the trespasser approached.
A single individual, she noted silently.
A man.
Scoffing slightly, the third in command drew her blades and waited. And, when the wanderer began to approach the building she left her hiding spot and jumped off the roof--swooping down from the higher level to him, her scimitars at the ready as she charged him in attack.
this should be interesting XD;fierce_wandererAugust 14 2009, 00:58:00 UTC
The lack of people here is vaguely disturbing. All of this space, this worked stone, yet not a single soul.
Did he just hear something?
He turns around -- and immediately dives to the side in an awkward roll to try and get away from the scimitars. He thinks he feels one blade catch his cloak, but he doesn't have time to check. He holds up his empty hands, making sure they're both close to his head.
Despite the wanderer's protests, the third in command refuses to drop her guard or lower her blades. Though she does cease to attack him, she keeps her scimitars raised and at the ready for any sudden movement. Studying him, she approaches and verifies his claim.
"You, a man, come alone and unarmed to the Gerudo Fortress? You are either a fool, or were looking to be captured."
Her eyes study his form and his features--they are certainly not unappealing. With a smirk, she brings a blade up and points the tip of it at his neck... letting it linger there just for a moment before she brings it to his chest.

[The wind swirls, a tornado appearing out of nowhere in front of the red dirt path. A lone figure clad in green steps out as the wind dissipates and makes for the fortress

[Unfortunately for Linksha, there is only empty air resting on the dining room bench upon his re-arrival to the area. His gear is nowhere to be seen.]
[Also unfortunate for Linksha is the sudden flurry of light footsteps that sound out from immediately behind him. Perhaps the Gerudo lieutenant had hidden herself by pressing her body carefully against the wall adjoining the kitchen--or perhaps she had just magically swooped down somehow from the rafters above. At any rate, there is precious little time for the young man to react before the hilt of one particular crescent moon blade comes swinging down towards the back of his head.]
(Thank you! 8D Sorry for not responding immediately, but ah, life is complex and so is the plumbing when it unexpectedly explodes in your kitchen. :|)
that's alright, dear; in any case, he's fast with attacks, but not so much with the flirtinglinkshaiaAugust 17 2009, 06:24:06 UTC
[The merry tune sputters to a halt upon the sight of his missing shield, quiver, and backpack. How's this-- There's several dining areas that look just like this scattered throughout the keep, but there's no WAY he's in the wrong room! It's not possible to get turned around coming back from the smokehouse!
[His thoughts are interrupted by the sound of steps -- they may be light, but Hylian ears don't miss much. Already on alert, now that another presence is confirmed, he's ready for a confrontation. With the speed of years spent watching his own back, he draws the sword at his hip and whirls to face the source of the sound.
[...And immediately has to FLAIL for a way to avoid that blade, now inches from his face! He throws his weight to one side and just barely dodges, crouch-stepping out of the way and rising with sword immediately up and at the ready. It's been a long time since he's had to fight without a shield. Adrenaline has already begun pumping through his system. He slows his breathing and shifts from Alert to Focused.]
[The young man's ability to turn on a dime and evade her attack startles her somewhat. Nevertheless, she smirks and flips back, bringing her scimitars up to guard as she calls out pleasantly--]
"Surrender, trespasser, and I'll let you keep that pretty little head of yours."
((It's alright, though I haven't called in a plumber. I did learn something important re: how to turn off the water, though. XD))
[She hears the shout from the stables, where she had been brushing down her horse. The yell brings her outdoors, where she spies the young man clad in the style of a Gerudo male.]
You!
[Her initial reaction is shock, followed by a wave of anger tinged with bitter amusement. So the Hylians had begun to send impostors to attempt to claim the Gerudo throne; she had heard tales of this behaviour, of the ambitious men who at each old monarch's death had tried to deceive their way into inheriting the kingship.
...Nevermind that he was the striking image of the Great Ganondorf as he had been as a boy...
She marched over, studying him. It was a well done deception; the boy's skin was the appropriate tanned colour, and his ears even lacked the distinct length of a Hylian's. Tsking, she grabbed him by the aforementioned appendage with index finger and thumb, giving him a sharp yank.]
