Chapter 30: Jones's Attack

Davy Jones

Kate quickly jumped to her feet, eyes flashing with the familiar lightning of anger.

ZeldaQueen: *yawns* Oh, are we going through this routine again?

“What do you want?” she demanded; her voice trembled slightly.

ZeldaQueen: Why is she afraid? It’s made quite clear by now that he’s not going to kill her

“I thought it would be obvious,” I answered as I stepped toward her.

She backed away, withdrawing her sword.

ZeldaQueen: WHAT. DO YOU MEAN TO TELL ME THAT SHE HAD A SWORD AND STILL WAS KIDNAPPED BY THAT TENTACLE? WITHOUT EVEN TRYING TO STAB IT? AND NO, DON'T TELL ME HER ARMS COULD HAVE BEEN PINNED! SHE WAS WAVING THE SWORD AROUND JUST SECONDS BEFORE SHE WAS KIDNAPPED.

She pointed it at me, but I only laughed, along with the rest of the crew.

“Have you forgotten that I can’t die?” I asked her. “Otherwise I would’ve done it long ago.”

ZeldaQueen: Yes, she probably forgot. If it isn’t Jack’s dick, she can’t keep it in mind

“What do you want of me?” she demanded again.

“I want you to stay aboard. I have leverage.”

“I will never be your leverage, Jones!”

ZeldaQueen: *tiredly* I’m getting déjà vu here

I nodded at the group of crew standing behind her; they grasped her arms and aimed their cutlasses. Kate gasped in surprise and struggled in vain against their grip. I stepped towards her, caressing her face. She jerked her head away from my touch.

“You’re on this ship and at my mercy,” I hissed softly. “You’re fortunate that I’ve allowed you to live this long.”

ZeldaQueen: We, on the other hand, are not

“Jack will kill you,” she said darkly. “He’ll come for me.”

ZeldaQueen: I’ll say he will, especially considering how often you drop your pants for him

“Now, you’re apparently unaware of the position that you’re in,” I countered.

ZeldaQueen: Well, she’s always aware of what sexual position she’s in

“You forgot that I’m holding you - at sword point - on the deck of my ship. I can give the order and have you killed at any moment. Your husband, meanwhile, is on the deck of the Pearl. He can do nothing to save you.”

ZeldaQueen: Correct. Kill her Jones. Please, I beg of you. Weren’t you saying just a few chapters ago that Kate Must Die because of Jack’s debt?

“Jack has the heart.”

I stopped and looked at her. “He has the heart?”

ZeldaQueen: *rolls eyes* Well, so much for the opportune moment

She nodded. “He wants you to call your pet off the hunt.”

“He has the Black Spot, missy,” I replied coldly. “I can’t call the Kraken off the hunt; it’s too late.”

“Take off the Spot, then!”

“Can’t do that either.”

“Why not?”

ZeldaQueen: (Sue) *stamps foot* “Why aren’t you doing what I want you to?”

“He and I made a deal, lass. Thirteen years as captain, then either the locker or service under the Dutchman’s mast. As of right now, the path he chose is the locker. I'm sure he told you of this; he wouldn't dare keep a secret from his darling wife, now would he?”

ZeldaQueen: Jones, you’re fantastic. Keep it up while you can

Kate sighed, and bent her head in defeat. Satisfied, I turned and walked to the banister; the Pearl was gaining.

ZeldaQueen: What? Weight? Intelligence?

“Jones.”

I turned at the sound of her voice and found that she had raised her head again.

“You have me,” she said softly. “Let Jack go.”

“How many times do I have to tell you? You can’t trade souls!”

ZeldaQueen: Yeah, but of course those silly rules don’t apply to the Sue!

“But you have Sirena,” she countered. “I’m Sirena.”

I stopped dead.

Sirena…

The crew gasped and stared at her, almost in fear. I could do nothing but watch her. Her striking azure eyes met mine in determination. I felt almost trapped beneath her gaze, suddenly weakened.

ZeldaQueen: *groans* Goodbye, Jones. Your awesome was nice, while it lasted

“Let her go.”

The command came from my mouth before I had even registered what order I’d given. The crew released her and silently shrank away, back to their positions. Kate and I stood alone together at the helm, silent, the atmosphere between us thick and oppressing. I slowly approached her, and found that she didn’t move as I came to stand before her. Her chest began to heave, her breaths were quickening.

ZeldaQueen: My God, but this is stupid

“Oy! Fish-face!”

ZeldaQueen: CANON! *embraces it*

I whirled round to find that the Pearl was now along the side of the Dutchman.

ZeldaQueen: And…they didn’t notice this why, exactly?

Sparrow held above his head a large glass jar filled with sand.

ZeldaQueen: IT WAS DIRT, YOU BRAINLESS IDIOT!

“Lose something?” he called. “Eh, scungilli?”

He had stepped towards the head of the stairs, and I heard Kate gasp as he tumbled down the flight. However, he held the jar up again and jumped to his feet.

ZeldaQueen: So long, humor!

“Got it! Come to negotiate, eh? Have you, you slimy git? Look what I’ve got!”

He began to skip and dance around, singing, “I got a jar of dirt. I got a jar of dirt. And guess what’s inside it!”

I turned, grabbed Kate, and pulled her to the banister.

“And look who I’ve got,” I called back.

Jack’s grin fell. “Kate!”

ZeldaQueen: Yeah, comedy was killed until it was dead

I withdrew my cutlass and held it to her throat, keeping a tight hold around her waist. “Repay your debt, Sparrow,” I shouted, “or she dies!”

ZeldaQueen: Promise?
