To me, Subaru has two sides... His outrageous, exaggerated, moody performer side and his quieter, shy side. Around his friends, though, he can really open up and be just crazy as all hell. I think what I wanted to convey with his awkward overdone friendliness toward the end of this was him putting up a sort of barrier. It's that natural instinct when you're that age to protect yourself...
Oh, gosh, sorry, I'm rambling on Subaru theory over here. Sorry. XD
