Emilia is obsessed with worms.  She loves to hunt for them outside.  When she finds one, she examines it closely, noting all of its natural features.  However, with the recent dry (and beautiful) spring warmth, we are in a worm drought.  Last evening, Emilia was in the driveway again, scanning the dried-up depressions for worms.

Do you have any rocks or bricks or similar she could overturn to look for them? Or you could start a worm farm for her! Worms are good things to be interested in. :)

We watched a Dirty Jobs episode where they brought worms to the surface by rubbing a rough thing across a wooden stake that's driven into the ground. They call it "grunting". I guess the vibration and noise brings the worms up. Check it out here!

Maybe Emelia will become a master grunter!

Haha, a master grunter. I think we'll just wait for the next rain, which, this time of year, is never far away. :)

But worms are great fun! I've always been a fan, probably because I handled them a lot when I went fishing with my dad when I was little.

Fun story: When I was in middle school, most girls in my school got freaked out by worms, so the boys would try to scare them by simply dangling a worm in front of them. They were always surprised when it didn't work on me - I'd just grab the worm out of their hands and go put it safely back in the grass. (...This story could sound dirty if you read it that way, so don't. :P)
