Emilia is obsessed with worms. She loves to hunt for them outside. When she finds one, she examines it closely, noting all of its natural features. However, with the recent dry (and beautiful) spring warmth, we are in a worm drought. Last evening, Emilia was in the driveway again, scanning the dried-up depressions for worms.
"Where are the worms?" she asked.
"They are hiding underground," I told her. "We would have to dig for them."
"Oh, no" she replied sadly. "There MUST be another way."
Determined, she repeated with confidence, "There MUST be another way."
I have no doubt that she will eventually invent a new method for bringing worms to the soil surface.
