~Fun with EarthBound - KILROY! KILROY!
Man my headphones stopped working on Wednesday. And I don't mean like, I kicked them off my computer by accident and the earpiece broke off like with my old pair, I mean they just abruptly stopped working. To be more specific, the left earpiece just died and no matter what I did, I couldn't fix it. I couldn't have gotten these more than six months ago, I got them right before I left for India after all. My pair before that one lasted for like two years. wtf. >(
So I went and got some NEW headphones, and they're doing the same thing one of my old pairs would do, which is wear away at one spot on my right ear and make it hurt. FRIGGING A. I'm just going to have to go back and get another set of the older ones, even if they do die after six months because at least they don't make my ears hurt. But I already spent money on these and arrrrgh. What a waste.
I was just thinking about how I do these. Just, you know, thousands of screenshots that I just comment on here and there. I feel like this really gives more of a feel for the game, you know? I mean, I could write out a long essay about what the game is about and what happens, or even a mocking essay poking holes in the game as I went, and while it might be thorough, you don't get that same feel for what the game is actually like, you know? This way you can really see it happening, see the dialogue, really kind of...I dunno, connect with the game more than if I was just telling you about it. That's why I don't mind taking tons of screenshots or anything, since the more I take, the more you can see of the game itself and the more real the game seems. More like you're watching me play through it, rather than me just telling you everything that happens, and when you watch someone play a game it has more power. At least that's how it seems to me. Does that make sense?
Anyway, back to Saturn Valley! With the Zexonyte, we can complete the Phase Distorter and finally come after Giygas! What could possibly go wrong?

Oh man I hate points of no return like this, I always get really paranoid I forgot something important and will never be able to go back and get it. THIS IS ALL YOUR FAULT, SIERRA GAMES BUT ALSO MORE NOTABLY THAT ONE AMAZON GAME THAT MADE ME TERRIFIED TO FINISH ANY CHAPTER WITHOUT QUADRUPLE CHECKING MY INVENTORY and even then I still got screwed RRRGH.
I wonder if that's why I'm so afraid that I'm forgetting something whenever I go anywhere in real life?

The music that plays here is...interesting. Cross Time and Space is kind of like...well at first you hear the sound of the Phase Distorter moving, but after that it's just this kind of weird, echoing trumpet. I think, if I remember right, it's actually the main part of that Beatles's song All You Need is Love played backwards. It's been a while since I've read up on my EB trivia though, but I'm almost positive that's it. Regardless, it's just kind of...strange and...unsettling? Almost kind of frightening, at least to me. It fits with the tone for the rest of the game, as you'll see.
If you've been following along the whole time, you've seen how lighthearted Earthbound can be, and those occasional dark/strange/ messed-up/scary moments in it that seem all the more jarring because of the tone of the game everywhere else. The end of the game is very much in the same vein...you'll see it more when we get to Giygas.

And yes, there's only alpha and omega for Starstorm. Weird, huh?

AHA! This sucker has the Gutsy Bat, Ness's final ultimate weapon, and has a 1/128 chance of dropping it. But as you can see, since the Bionic Kraken only shows up like...ten feet away from Giygas and the end of the game, it's REALLY hard to motivate myself to look for the Gutsy Bat, cause I might as well just beat the game at this point. I didn't even try to look for it this time.
OW apparently Paula has a fire protective amulet on.
