I don't remember anything about what I dreamed last night except that for some reason at some point it very loudly began playing Bustopher Jones from Cats. Okay, sure brain, whatever.
Internet was dodgy today, so I spent some time updating Admiral ZEX the ipod and found out that I actually DO have too much music for him now. :O Who knew ZEX could ever be satisfied? I had to trim some stuff but I eventually got it just under the wire. Too bad, though.
ANYWAY what happened to Ness and his friends?!?!?!
Previous editions Dream yeah right BAD ACID TRIP IS MORE LIKE IT
Or Ramma, in Japanese. Heh.
In the far east... Finally!
Heh, I love how angry Poo looks. HE IS NOT AMUSED. THIS IS VERY SERIOUS BUSINESS.
Well, he's not level ONE at least. That's something.
Nice selection of abilities though!
Actually, as time goes on, Poo's PSI gets very, uh, varied I guess. He and Ness share the Lifeup power, and he also can cast shields like Paula (although, I think they're physical shields rather than psychic). Poo in general is strong enough to back up Ness when he attacks, but also has his own powerful psychic abilities to back up Paula. All in all, he's very well-rounded and adaptable. We'll get to his special ability later.
I like Poo a lot, actually. I dunno why. HE'S FUN TO DRAW I GUESS but I just think he's awesome. But then again I love all the characters so you know. Well, except Pokey. What was I talking about?
Right! Poo in his palace. The music for Dalaam is one of my favorites actually...it's kind of a mix of several different types of music, but it's got that kind of eastern, exotic feel, if that makes sense. It's catchy.
A Song Played for Travelers (Also known as the Floating Kingdom of Dalaam, according to my SPC files)
Mother 1+2 CD version! Very nice.Nirvana from the Bound Together project, a really nice, beautiful piano version of it Just in case he gets thirsty, you know. Being a prince is hard work! Especially one as buff as Poo.
Hmm, where can I use this? HMM.
Wooooo
Oh neat! Not that that's ever been a problem so far, but it's nice to have anyway!
Hahahahaha I LOVE THE PHONES IN DALAAM DON'T YOU
Poo just stares at the reciever all confused.
Not that much but alright.
Poo's a hit with the ladies.
Little swirly pink clouds. Hehehe.
Deep thoughts.
Hello, my old friend the magic butterfly.
Oh, flute player, gotcha.
I WILL BE KING SOMEDAY
Oh yeah, random note. According to my little strategy guide thing, Poo is a little older than Ness. By how much who knows, but I bet like a year or two. Ness and Jeff are the same age though. It doesn't really mention Paula's age for some reason, though I assume she matches the others. But Poo is probably the oldest out of the four.
I think of the kids as ten, but I've seen them as thirteen. Either way, Poo's probably 14 at the most, maybe 12 otherwise. WHY AM I INTERESTED IN THE MATH OF THIS? WHAT'S WRONG WITH ME.
Woo, tangent.
Hahaha I kind of already did.
WOW A BOTTLE OF WATER
I said no here, if you're curious. :D
Look, my training and me, it's just clicking okay? I need you to back off, this feels right.
If you say yes
I picture Poo doing this with the most unamused expression ever on his face.
GET THE NAME RIGHT
Badumching
Hooboy am I
I am indeed. But what if I say no?
THIS IS VERY SERIOUS BUSINESS.
WOO DELISAUCE not only is a Jar of Delisauce fun to say, it's also an awesome condiment. It goes well with EVERYTHING. Remember how I put ketchup on that croissant way way way back in Peaceful Rest Valley? Condiments align with certain types of food, and if you get it wrong, the food tastes terrible. Delisauce, however, goes well with EVERYTHING. Also I love saying jar of delisauce. Delisaaaaaaaauuuuuceee
I know, baby.
Can't imagine there's a lot of tourists around here. Maybe the world of Earthbound has accepted $ as the standard currency? I AM THINKING TOO HARD ABOUT THIS AREN'T I
Rice gruel is actually pretty good. It doesn't sound like it would be. Restores about 200 hp I think. Brain food lunch like I said before is awesome.
Oh, this is a good opportunity to mention one of the other things about Poo. Since Poo is used to Eastern food, Western food doesn't sit well with him, meaning that almost every food item only restores about 6 hp for him. EXCEPT the Brain Food Lunch, which restores him completely, HP and PP included. Yes, this means the otherwise awesome Kraken Soup is only worth 6 HP for him, and so on. Thankfully, Poo has Lifeup so he can just restore himself if it comes down to it, but it's always a good idea to just stock him up with some Brain Food Lunches just in case, and he's set.
I always liked that detail though, that Dalaam's food is so different from Eagleland's that Poo can't easily adjust to it. Just a touch of realism, I think. :D
True story! A normal bottle restores about 10 for Poo, and DX water about 40. Sadly only Poo can do this, I think.
Stockin up!
Bunnies. :O
That is pretty strange yes
There we go, on to what we're supposed to be doing.
Kind of a zen koan then. Well not really, I guess.
This makes me burst out laughing everytime I read it. OF COURSE, IT'S ALL IN THE EYES hehehehehehehe
Well thanks for that I guess
Up we go! Sidenote - I think the kids look hilarious when they climb ropes. Don't mind me.
Nice view.
TIME TO MEDITATE.
You know how Earthbound in general is a kind of silly, goofy game that doesn't take itself seriously? It makes the moments when serious/creepy things happen that much more effective because you don't really expect them. Some of you guys (and me, even though I've done it a dozen times) were creeped out by Moonside for just this reason. When Earthbound gets weird or creepy, it REALLY goes for it, and it's such a tone change from the game in general that it's always memorable.
To me, the Mu training has always been one of those creepy parts of Earthbound. Probably in large part to
the music for it (
at Galbadia), which is bizarre and extremely creepy sounding. If you want the full-effect of this, listen to the Mu training music while skimming through these.
That and you'll see the rest.
TEMPT ME NOT, DEVIL
I ain't fallin for that.
You know, I've never said no to this. I'm not sure what happens. POO WOULDN'T SAY NO, SO I DON'T EITHER.
Ouch!
And then everything gets dead silent.
I always end up standing here for a few seconds just to make sure, even though the Dalaam music kicks back in at this point. I dunno, that part just always creeped me out. But Poo's all the stronger for it, so let's go!
Then there's some mousy kid with glasses, what's his face. You know, the nerd.
It's kind of interesting that Dalaam lets their prince go off to save the world, leaving the country to the advisors and such. I guess they know how important the entire thing is.
Speaking of which, where are Poo's parents? Maybe that old dude is his grandfather and his parents died. WHO KNOWS.
For Mother!
We won't let you down! :O
WOO
Not quite as impressive that time
The new type of teleport! :O Teleport Beta just has you spin in a tight circle that gradually expands, then you head off. You can teleport from almost anywhere with this.
Shooooom
Ness, having woken up from his Magic Cake coma, comes to to find a Dalaamese boy pop onto the sand in front of him.
Well that was straightforward enough.
HURRAY WE FINALLY HAVE OUR CHOSEN FOUR BOY THAT GIYGAS BETTER LOOK OUT
....sssyeeaaaah, Poo's going to need some time to catch up with everyone else.
Jesus that's expensive. They restore about 20 PP I think.
Drugging random people, it's great!
Hey a street sign
Ah, here we go! Poo has a rather unusual special ability called Mirror. If it succeeds, Poo takes on the form of the enemy, including all their special attacks (Like the Spiteful Crow pecks at your eyes, the Runaway Dog is howling, the Skatepunk shredded on a skateboard) and any PSI attacks they use (although using them still uses Poo's PP). You also lose control of him. This can be interesting if you're desperate or if there are certain enemies that have abilities that are good to exploit. Notably, there are these things called Nuclear Reactor Robots we'll see later, and these have an ability where they replenish a fuel supply, restoring their or a random monster on the field's HP completely. I usually have Poo transform into one of them, cause then he can replenish a fuel supply and restore someone in the party's HP to full for free.
But generally, I've never gotten a lot of use out of Mirror, except for the Nuclear Reactor Robots, like I said. It's not as big a wild card as Pray, but Poo is still better put to use attacking, physically or psychically, healing, or shielding.
That's his lead up for it. There he didn't pull it off, but we'll see him do it later.
And let's keep going! Actually I need to hit the Dusty Dunes Desert and whack some Criminal Caterpillars to help Poo catch up with everyone else. SO THE NEXT INSTALLMENT SHOULD BE REALLY INTERESTING I BET it actually didn't take me that long believe it or not. Actually, I could just cut to the final level I got him to and a shot of his stats, if the leveling bores you guys to tears. What do you think?
Heh, I did manage to get all the way to Poo before I left though! Haha. Next up,
Magnet Hill!
