Unfortunately, I have no good excuse for this, but I blame the script writers and their inexplicable fondness for Arthur restraining Merlin. Because it made me wonder how the boys like filming those scenes. Um. All my gratitude goes to torakowalski, who Brit-picked and criticised in her wonderfully constructive way instead of telling me to stick this story

D/s for me depends on how it's done! I don't like D/s stories that have this feeling of inequality, of abuse. That's not what it should be about!

I was planning a rather big D/s story a while back, so I discussed it with some people who actually know what it's all about, and the point they really drove home is that it's not about taking advantage, but that it's very much a mutual need that's being fulfilled. &hearts

Oh, yes. Something that gets a little inside the head, beyond "wouldn't this be hot?" to "for some people, this fulfills a mental/emotional craving." I don't like to overanalyze real people (in public anyway, lol), but I have been thinking about Colin's description of Bradley as "very observant," combined with Colin's pattern of purposefully choosing things like roles that are outside his comfort zone, and suddenly the dynamics you've laid out here seem very plausible.

I think for me, the start of this was a) wondering about those Arthur-restraining-Merlin scenes, and b) Bradley's comment about how he didn't get Colin at first. And also, yes. D/s sometimes drifts into dub-con, and that's just a big, fat no in my head.
