Your Superbowl ads in review

Feb 01, 2009 23:02

This year's Superbowl ads started off with a highly anticipated trailer.
  • GI Joe: The Rise of Cobra. It looks ...OK. I'm not going to pan it just on this trailer but it could have been better.
  • Hyundai Genesis You know. Fuck it. The car commercials all sucked this year. I'm just not going to mention any of them.
  • Bud Light Don't buy Bud Light for ( Read more... )

Wow, your local news had shitty picks. I think the consensus at the McFly WiiGii!Bowl party was that Careerbuilder and Teleflora were 1 and 1a. (Personally, I liked the Teleflora best..."No one wants to see you naked!")

The majority of the non-trailer commercials were hardly worth mentioning. The Shatner one was great, as were both of Bridgestone's.

As for movies; RotF looks good so far, Star Trek looks like it could be a lot of fun, Year One will probably be worth renting, Land of the Lost looks like it will probably be worth downloading (illegally), and as for G.I. Joe...I have low expectations as it is, so I will have fun seeing it. Best part of the trailer was the gratuitous Bra-oness shot.

I just wish there had been a freaking "Yo Joe!"

I only mentioned 2 of the top picks from local news that I thought were bad. The rest of their picks were ok. :)

Have you not seen the MacGruber sketches on SNL? It's a long standing parody character that Will Forte has been doing on MacGyver. Having Richard Dean Anderson in a MacGruber Sketch turned into a Pepsi commercial was HILARIOUS. During SNL this week they showed three MacGruber/MacGyver Pepsi commercials, and they're funnier as the set.

But I suppose that if you've never seen the sketches on SNL it's not half as funny.

A bunch of my co-workers bitched about the MacGruber ads too. I think it's only funny if you're familiar with the sketches.

I loved it, personally.

Nope, I haven't watched SNL since Dana Carvey left.

And nobody else in my watch party does either apparently. :)

Well, *I* was cheering for the Steelers too. Then again, I'm now one of those St Charles weirdos, so maybe I don't count. :)

You weren't here during the Warner/Rams Superbowl or when the Cardinals were in St. Louis.

Ah, so I really don't count! Just for different reasons. :)
