Never had sweat literally pouring off me before - that's what I get for deciding to mow the front lawn and weed the flower bed today, even though I was done before 9:30am. My first heat advisory - temps + humidity are going to make the heat index creep up to 105 or even 110 (40-43 celsius) today and tomorrow, as I discovered when I got back indoors ( Read more... ) -

Just finished THBP. I might have stayed up all night reading it, save for the sinus headache I've been sporting since our house became so much cooler and drier (the AC giveth, and the AC taketh away). I'm riled, but I'm not going to write about it because it's inane and utterly unimportant. All the same, it's not freaking FAIR and that... just bugs me.

... despite the name. Our mystery bird is a Common Nighthawk (chordeiles minor), a member of the whippoorwill and goatsucker (oh yes) family and neither nocturnal nor a hawk at all.

Displacement activity
Two weeks to go and we'll be on the road - hopefully. Still looks as though nothing is getting done, which isn't the case, but it's not getting done visibly enough for my peace of mind. One of these days I expect I'll turn around and the house will be empty; in the meantime, it's stressful ( Read more... ) -
$400 not spent
Turns out the city has a bulky waste management programme (I quote) which will pick up whatever we need to be rid of at the beginning of April. All we need to do is separate burnables from non-burnables and drop the lot on the sidewalk.
Gosh. Your tax dollars at work.
