Why halo thar, Monsoon Season...

Jun 27, 2008 06:29

...and I have descended into LOLspeak, why?  Beats me.  But yes, I think I can say the season's finally started; we had tons of rain yesterday (it started in the afternoon and poured) and today the air feels like it's just been put through the world's biggest washing-machine, all damp and fresh and wrinkle-free.  I drove home yesterday through a ( Read more... )

The magazine subscription people are a soulless batch of goons who would cheerfully persuade a paraplegic that they needed a subscrption to "Nike World Magazine" in order to exist. If you *do* find them and need some help holding 'em down, to get that golfclub in, drop me a line.

Steampunk. Have you heard of Abney Park? Some sweet music there!

**intrigued** No, haven't heard of 'em-- can you send me a sample? I only have one what-I-think-of-as-Steampunk-music, and here it is for download if you want it-- it's called 'Lovely Allen'; it's purely instrumental but I like it, it sounds like something Rick Waitman'd do if he read too much Jules Vern.

And I totally agree with you about the magazine-subscription people. I'd love to explain to them why my 81-year-old mom who uses a rolling walker to get around and who suffers from Alzheimer's doesn't really need their fucking golf magazine, up close and personal. If she *wants* it, then good; she should have it. But considering how surprised and unhappy she was when my sister asked her about it, I think the chances aren't very high that she does. She's never even liked watching it on TV; horse-races, yes, no other sport that I can ever recall at all.

I hesitate to share .MP3s. They're such a small group that I want them to get everything they can.

However, you can sample their work at You Tube.

Here are a couple really good ones;

ETA: So, it's a date. You find the twerps who sold her the 'zine and I come and hold 'em down for you. I'll even supply an extra putter for the purpose.

^__^ Thanks! Can't do YouTube at the moment (I'm at work) but I will this evening, and if I like 'em I'll buy their music from Amazon-- I do that a lot, and I checked, they have 40-something of their songs available.

The storm was lovely. I stood on the balcony at work and was watching the water run down the road. Interesting how it impacts people too because the day before everyone was restless and last night I was greeted with nothing but smiles.

How long has your mom been on the meds? Some of them take 10-14 to reach therapeutic levels.

^_____________^ I know what you mean. Storms both make me restless and make me want to sleep; I sleep best when it's raining and/or windy, mostly because the sounds mimic something that I grew up hearing from early childhood: wind in the long-needle pines that grew all over my and my neighbors' yards. GREAT big trees with needles that got to be a foot long; swish, swish... incredibly soothing sounds.

As for the meds, only a week today; I know, I know, I'm impatient. But I want my mom as well as possible, and she knows things are wrong and it hurts her. I could hear it; it was terrible. I realize that I should be incredibly thankful that she's still here with me at almost-82 (her birthday's in August) but it's just hard to see her deteriorate mentally like this.

How's the new job going, btw? And.... goggles? **hopeful look**

I have the goggles. They were in my bag and I forgot them.

A week is pretty short time to expect a lot of improvement. I can appreciate the desire though.

**grimace** Yeah... Well, I'll be calling about every third night now to check up on Mama's progress, and hopefully something'll work. She's got a very good doctor; I used to babysit for him and his wife and I know him well.

And that's fine about the goggles; I'll pick 'em up from you this weekend and finish the paint-job. Hope you enjoyed wearing them! I *seriously* want to make a set of Steampunk ones; want to make some also, and maybe Jackalyn too?

YOU JUST SERIOUSLY IMPROVED MY DAY. EEEEEEEEEEE!!! I've raised three litters of baby ferrets (well, helped raise) from my second ferret, Tansey; I got her when I was still living in Germany and bred her several times before getting her spayed. All her offspring found good homes, several with me; a baby ferret's got to be one of the cutest things on the planet, and it's *really* encouraging to see the Blackfooted guys multiplying! Thanks hugely! ^______________^

Your "this" link is broken D:

Also, yay ferret cam! I have it open in a tab and keep refreshing it.

Have you bid over at livelongnmarry yet? I just won myself a four-month care package treatment ♥ There are so many awesome things listed there. I put up a few custom stuffed animals, myself~

^__^ The ferretcam's great, isn't it? And no, I haven't bid on anything yet but I *did* put up some hand-made herbal sachets for bid-- I like to make 'em. You reminded me about it, actually, so thanks very much! Hmmm... I should go shopping among the bids...
