As far as I know, the epitaph worked exactly as Grandfather intended it to. [What happened after... Well, that's beyond the point xD]

I never had to solve the epitaph, in my Fragment I had been the heir ever since I was a young child.

But I do know both the answer to your question and to the Epitaph. [And is not telling either XDDDD]
