This is the first negative reaction I've read. I had the very opposite reaction. While I was very meh about the last few eppys I thought this was near perfect. It would have been a fitting series ending. The Impala back story, the montages, the part where Sam overcomes the devil and takes Michael with him.
The series was about the brothers, about their twisted up relationship and it ended with what they were willing to do with each other. They respected each other for once, yet, did what it took the save the other.
Chuck was God all along maybe? Cass deserved to get his wings back and Chuck said, no one was going to be pleased, thought that was clever.
God=Writers :-P
In the End their roles over reversed....Dean has a life, Sam is the loner, but I doubt it'll stay that way.
I didn't see it like that. I mean, I get your rage, but the second Samifer blew Cas up, I knew we were getting a reboot, as far as deaths go. I think this was just closing the arc about god and Lucifer (in an awesometastic, love AND trust your brother kinda way) and starting the new one, which I hope to... Chuck? will be a role reversal from the pilot, and building back up the Sam&Dean finally from an equal place. I'm expectant.
You're not alone! So far, opinions on my friendslist and friendsfriends list are mostly falling on the negative side, too. Even the people who liked it still had issues, especially with the end. I'd feel better about it being just an okay episode if it at least got me excited for next year. At this point, I'm not very. :-\ Thankfully, awesome writers can take this episode to AU at any number of points and make some tasty lemonade. ;-)
