Holy crap! Those of you who were watching from the beginning must have hated the wait for season two to start. The finale was a..m..a..z..i..n..g! But I'm getting ahead of myself. ( The final three episodes )
You will find out the significance of the pendant later. Hope no one spoils it for you. The ring... maybe I can tell you that one... is his mom's.
I love all three of these episodes!
I also love everything about vamps and Dead Man's Blood was really fun. I love the talk between John and Sam, when Sam finally understands why John did what he did. I love that Dean listens to Sam and goes after John even though he told them not to - Dean saves dad, and dad saves Sam using one of the few colt bullets.
I liked the vampires...different from most vampires. It seems the vampire mythology is really up for grabs these days.
I LOVED that Dean took the Colt even though Sam told him not to and didn't realize he had taken it. Good thing, too.
Yes, I don't believe all vampires are bad either -- Twilight, True Blood, to name two shows that have some good vampires.
At the end of Salvation it said, "To be Continued" so I knew Devil's Trap was the continuation.
There were a lot of heart wrenching scenes between the brothers in these episodes and with John as well. I never expected JDM to be so wonderful in this show.
Oh yes, I'm quite looking forward to watching season two and am sure I'll love it.
There was a funny cartoon about that, but I can't find it at the moment :P Evil vs Monsters (not all monsters are evil - it's what you do, not what you are) is a theme that will be addressed in in Season 2.
In My Time of Dying in particular - the first episode - is a very good episode.
I don't quite understand how Meg, as played by Rachel Miner, can come back since the human Meg is legitimately dead...isn't she?
Demons can go in and out of human bodies. They are just souls. Remember the black smoke that went up the chimney? The exorcism just sends demons back to Hell. Meg didn't die. She just went back to Hell. Demons can actually keep possessing a human while the human is dead so, Meg the human could have died in the fall and Meg the demon could still be possessing her body.
At this point, the only thing they know that can kill a demon (along with the human) is the colt.
I looked up the verse JW 2:27 in SuperWiki (episode summary page also has trivia references and special quotes etc.)
The sign for Salvation quotes a bible verse: JW 2:27 "Are you ready for Judgement day?" This book and verse do not actually exist and are likely meant for John Winchester.
Yes, I understand about Meg now. I didn't realize that the demon was still "alive" even though the girl was dead or that it was the demon who was Meg, not the human girl.
Yes, I figured out that to kill the demon, you would also kill the person it was inhabiting, which is why they wouldn't shoot John.
Someday if I ever find the time, I'll have to explore SuperWiki. It sounds like a fascinating web site, I love trivia. Thanks for checking the JW 2:27 for me. Does 2:27 (February 27th?) have some significance?
Dead Man's Blood is one of my favorite episodes just because there is so much family and character stuff in there. Also when John pulls out his machete...heehee. Really, all three of the guys nailed it in this episode and I love their take on vampires, different from any other vampire mythology at the time
( ... )
Yeah, John's machete was almost as impressive as Michone's katana sword in The Walking Dead. I liked this take on vampires, too. Vampire mythology is really up for grabs these days.
Yes, I understand now about Meg. Several people have explained it to me. Oh, I didn't notice the truck driver's eyes, but I'll probably watch the finale again.
JDM was awesome and VERY chilling as a demon. The acting by all three was fabulous. A lot of time must have been spent working out the choreography for these three episodes.
I don't know that we ever find out about the ring but I think you'll learn about the necklace at and Dean's bracelet at some point. If you want spoilers let me know.
Meg or any other demon is just a demon soul which inhabits what the show calls meat suits. So Meg is the demon inhabiting a girl. Her body died by Meg could inhabit someone else.

I can wait re the pendant. I noticed Dean's bracelet, but didn't think to ask about that.
Yes, I understand about Meg now. I thought the human girl was Meg, not the name the demon used. Makes sense now. Thank you.

Huh.. I don't remember that being the case but maybe I'm thinking of something else.

I was watching it on Netflix so I had no wait between the early seasons :)
