Another Update (#3) on "Supernatural" Viewing

Jul 17, 2015 01:23

I've decided I'd better number my posts giving my thoughts on Supernatural as I view season one on DVDs. This is my third--one and two are my previous entries--and it covers disc three in the set. Included are episodes titled Home, Asylum, Scarecrow and Faith. My thoughts are under the cut.

Faith will always be one of my favorite episodes.
I kind of always figured that Layla had accepted her fate by the end of the episode.

You could be right. Maybe Layla did accept her fate. I like to always think positively though. :)

I see that.
She's on my list of characters I would love for them to meet again.

Yes, many fans have mentioned Faith as a favorite. There's another one coming up that many people have mentioned: Heart. Jared said in an interview at Comic Con that there are 220 hours if you watch from the beginning. Yikes! I have a long road ahead of me.

Where are Sam and Dean getting the money to pay for all the traveling they do?
Credit card fraud, scamming and hustling. It's mentioned a few times in different episodes.

Home: LOVE that one and yeah, Missouri is such an awesome character. I love that this ep starts taking the show to deeper, more emotional places.

Asylum: This ep is so much fun. I love stuff that takes place in creepy old asylums.

Scarecrow: MEG!!!! She's still a favorite of mine. She's awesome.

Faith: I'm glad you liked this one! It's such a touching episode. I'm sure Lila (how wonderful is Julie Benz?!) died, but I still think of her, wishing she'd have been ok. And perfect use of "Don't Fear the Reaper," no? She's a faovrite SPN guest star of mine, but then again, I'm a huge fan of hers.

OK, yes...I remember now that they're into credit card fraud...and Dean seems to be a pretty successful gambler.

I liked Home a lot, too.

Creepy old asylums, well, creep me out. This a was great episode.

Does Meg come back or is Scarecrow the only episode she's in?

Julie Benz was the first guest star I'd heard of. She was VERY good in Faith.

Let me run something by you. Several fans have mentioned that seasons six and seven aren't good because of Sera Gamble being the writer, but that season eight picks up again. I'm thinking about skipping six and seven. What do you think? Jared said in an interview at Comic Con that there are 220 hours if you watch from the beginning. Yikes! I have a long road ahead of me and a shortcut or two would be nice.

Lol, yeah, he's a total hustler, especially when it comes to pool. :P

Meg is a recurring character in season one. She pops back up again later on. I'd say more, but... spoilers! She's an all time favorite demon on mine. Like someone else mentioned, her "dad" is awesome.

Julie Benz is just so lovely and wonderful. I always get excited when I see that she's in something.

As bad as those two seasons are, I wouldn't skip them, simply for the sake of canon. There are some major character introductions and a death that factors into the later seasons. You'd be missing a large part of the story that informs s8 on. Sorry. :(

I already know that Rachel Miner replaces the actress who played Meg in the beginning. I like Rachel a lot, so that doesn't bother me. Is Meg's "dad" Lucifer? I saw a clip with him in it and figured that's who he was.

Don't worry, I don't think I'd really skip seasons six and seven. Nearly everyone has mentioned some episodes in those seasons that they liked. Getting all the way to season 10 just seems like such a daunting task to me right now.

On every movie I'm screaming at the screen... don't stick your hand in a garbage disposal. Use tongs or something.

I don't remember half these episodes. I should really check it out on TNT and rewatch it all... but that is a lot.

I've inspired quite a few fans to go back to the beginning and re-watch. Jared said in an interview at Comic Con that there are 220 hours if you watch from the beginning. Yikes! I have a long road ahead of me.

It is true... long road... Dean and Sam understand that so...

Yeah, it really is a good show. I used to listen to it in the morning while getting ready because it is on TNT every morning. I'm considering it.

Speaking of Buffy, a friend in Asia sent me the entire seven seasons of Buffy a couple of years ago, but I've never managed to find time to watch them. Looks like it may be a few more years now that I've started watching 10 seasons of Supernatural.

Angel was a spinoff of Buffy, right?
