Finished....sort of
In 1997 we got the Special Edition of the Star Wars Trilogy on VHS. I argued for the Widescreen Edition, I don't know what possessed me to. Some new deadlines
So, as you might have guessed, those of you who are actually keeping track, I failed to meet my original August 3rd deadline for finishing the comic book. This was not entirely surprising, as I was giving myself a month to write, rough, pencil and ink 32 pages---something not even the pros ever really do. Blah blah blah pencils
Well, principal penciling is done (to borrow some terminology from film). That is to say, I spent a shitload of time on the comic today (about 8 hours of actual work plus a lot of breaks) and every page has on it pencils which look pretty reasonably like how I want the final product to look. Slumptown
Well, I certainly owe you guys an entry. You may have guessed already, but the lack of updates coincided with me hitting a pretty bad slump. Probably my worst yet. It's about 105 F inside my apartment.
The lettering continues apace. I love the word "apace." Anyway, last post I was worried about whether or not I would make my lettering deadline of one week for all thirty-two pages. Considering the fact that I lettered 8 pages in 6 hours today after coming home from work (bringing the total up to 14 out of 32) I am no longer too concerned about it ( Read more... ) -
Lettering has begun!
Well, I started lettering the comic today. This stage of the plan involves: taking a roughed page and repositioning and rewriting the text to transform it from its rough layout form into what it will look like in the final book; inking the page's panel borders; and finally inking the text ( Read more... ) -
Huzzah!
Well, having cranked out roughs for pages 19-32 today, I am now finished with the initial roughing! I've the whole issue stacked on my drawing table, and it's fun to think about it taking shape on the pages, finally. And I'm ahead of schedule! I gave myself until Tuesday to finish this task. So I'm going to take the extra couple days to read it ( Read more... ) -
Well, that didn't take long...
Yesterday I started digging into what I would consider the "meat" of Big Apple Monsters Issue 1. In two several-hour stints separated by a lunch, I roughed out pages 3-13 of the book. I wanted to get to 16 to be halfway through the roughing stage, but it was not to be. Several technical and motivational obstacles got in the way.

I've just realized that this is the ninth year of my LiveJournal. That's almost as many years as there are Doctors. Crazy!
Today there was more art-making. In addition to work at my "real job." I think this is the first time I've been really able to accomplish much of both in one day. This is good progress.
