It is currently the quiet time, as I call it, in my home. The time between when my husband goes off to work and my son gets in from school. It's my time to write and do as I like for a while. Even getting my thoughts into my journal can be trying with certain things going on.

John Edwards is a fake, though.

He's been proven to use a technique called cold reading that old vaudevillians used in mindreading acts, yup ( ... )

I was told by a woman at work that I would be going to hell because I read Harry Potter...a book series designed to teach our children black magic spells...

Funny thing about most of the people that are critical, in that respect, of Harry Potter, they've never read it.

The people who comment negatively on Left Behind are usually those of us who are ah-or post-millenialists. It's all the pre-mils who take "as gospel" (what ah & posties believe to be) the sybolism of Revelation to be a literal fore-telling of future events who buy into the Left Behind series as something more than a novel. We're such a small group we others and not as vocal as the Fundamentalists or even a majority of the RC Church. ;D I'm sure they're lovely novels though... Tim's a good writer from what I remember ( ... )

Oh, and my kids and I have all devoured HP waiting eagerly for the next installment (though I was annoyed at some mistakes in the last one, not her best work, really. Maybe she's rushing... ).

I liked Order of the Phoenix. I think Goblet of Fire left something to be desired, though.

I haven't commented on the Left Behind series as a reader, because for some reason, I couldn't get past the first chapter of the first book. Could have been the timing. I just find it interesting that many who take those novels and others as gospel, as the saying goes, seem to be in the same camp as the Harry Potter naysayers.

There is a book out that discusses the moral values taught in Harry Potter, but the title escapes me at the moment. I found it to be an interesting read.

It's sad, but there are a lot of books out there that are supposedly written from a Christian point of view that make all Christian look narrow minded. I know they aren't, but some people don't.
