Skeptical

Ok, so my friend texted me and she said that when she was on Wikipedia (yeah, I already had doubts at that point) it said something about there being a release date for volume 12 of YnM (And that if it was popular Matsushita might start writing again). So she went to the site it was cited from (which was in japanese) and then asked a friend of hers ( Read more... )

So my friend sent me a translation:

After an 8 year long hiatus, Matsushita Yoko's "Descendants of Darkness" (serialized in Hakusensha's (publisher name) "Flowers and Dreams") will return with the 12th volume in January 2010. "Descendants of Darkness" is a series about the adventures of the Death God Tsuzuki Asato and his partner kurosaki Hisoka as they solve difficult cases while working for Ten Kings Hall (an organisation that judge the dead) of the Enma (King of Hell)'s summons division. During this period of hiatus, the last publication in "Flowers and Dreams" (2006, No.6) consisted of sidestories. This is actually an 8 year break if you consider that the volume 11 tankobon (standalone book) appeared in December 2001. In the 12th volume there will be massive changes to the original content. The revival of this series is uncertain. Based on the response of this new volume, the fate of the series will be announced in "Flowers and Dreams"

If it's the dialogue she changes rather than the art, then I suppose the new version would become canon. o.o

Oh lol, retcon..

Well, "massive changes to the original version" happened when the first Nagare related chapters went from serialization to print. Basically, we all got a bunch of surprise snakey buttsex.

I'm wondering if something like that's going to happen again?

As for changes in the dialog, at least we have Theria's translations to compare with!

I just got all the available volumes (in English) and started reading them... hope this one gets translated and released over here, soon.

If this is really true, it would be fantastic! :) I've been hoping and praying for it to return from its long hiatus for so many years.

I only hope that the response to Tankoubon 12 will be enough to spur Matsushita-san to continue the story. After 8 years, the YnM fanbase might have moved on long time ago.

I think the fanbase is small but reliable, thanks to the anime having been on the SciFi Channel for a while (and I think another channel picked it up): I mentioned YnM on the NaNo forum, and while I wasn't deluged with reactions, someone was asking about a possible Vol. 12 and I pointed them to this item.
