Alaric is definitely setting himself up as slashbait, isn't he? Though this is a happy case of a show that has slashy m/m AND f/f relationships, with interesting het relationships too, and women who get to be central to the story. Will slash fandom ignore it b/c of the latter? We shall see.
We shall see. I could definitely see writing multiships for this, if it wouldn't just be too weird to fic it. As it is, I am happy mentally crossing everybody with everybody.
The Peter-heavy episode reminded me of earlier X-Files episodes, which was all right by me, right down to the Guess The Just Outside of Vancouver Location We Filmed This In. Walternate make me act like a physical manifestation of the \o/ emoticon. I can't wait until next week with Olivianate and Broylesnate and all the other -nates.
I feel like I need a physical manifestation of The Vampire Diaries to hug. I can't hug my copy of the books because it's not the same as the show and, well, I don't know what box they're in. Steampunky bits that all fit together into something MORE steampunkly awesome. Oh, show. Whatever will I do without you this summer?
The Peter-heavy episode was DEFINITELY especially XF-flavored, in ways that I felt sure were intentional. The two-part finale is definitely my most-anticipated TV event of the year.
I have to reread those books soon, but yeah, TVD the show is clearly on its own island now. Its own hypercool island.
I think the problem re: Jesse St. James, is that they have set him opposite FINN who has no real talent to speak of. Both Artie and Puck sing circles around him. Having never heard Other Asian or Shaft solo I can't say for them. And of course I defy any of them to sound as good as Kurt(soft spot). But yeah, they made this guy the lead and I CANNOT understand why. I understand Rachel(even if she and Lea Michele, to put it in immortal words, make me wanna set myself on fire) but not him.
It boggles. And there-in lies the problem with Jesse St. James.
Vampire Diaries sounds like something I needed to be watching yesterday.
I don't think Finn is horrible, but the range of what he can sing successfully is pretty limited, and while I find his sort of goofy cluelessness very appealing, it's not the kind of personality that holds center stage easily on its own.
TVD is good, good stuff -- hands down the biggest shocker of the year in terms of its quality and sheer storytelling bravado.
True, Finn isn't bad and he's good for a laugh. I suppose my real problem is with whoever is assigning songs. Some people are breaking out of their range/usual and being really good at it. Others... not so much.
I should really try and watch it. They do summer re-runs still right? That's not, like, a nineties thing?
Vampire Diaries: I think I had that conversation, too. Who could know that I would adore a show again like this? I don't want next week to be the finale. Also, between Alaric and Jack Bristow, I've clearly developed a thing for good but morally ambiguous guys with mysteriously vanishing wives who come back evil and badass and likely were so from the beginning (and had daughters they never told them about
( ... )
I think the TVD finale is in two parts, so we have two weeks of fun to look forward to instead of one ... right? Right? If I have to go into withdrawal mode, I should start preparing myself now.
Jesse, Sue and Brittany on a road trip might just be the greatest idea ever.
The glass heart in Fringe was pretty awesome. So was "Esther" and her singing voice. And yes, there was Olivia/Esther, Olivia/Broyles, Olivia/Peter, Olivia/Nina -- ALL of it in that episode. Something about the whole scenario was very kinky, and now I realize that was all in Walter's brain and I think I'm just going to leave the thought alone there.
I don't watch "The Good Wife" because I have a totally irrational inability to look at Juliana Margulies (whom I have absolutely nothing against, am sure she is talented, wish her well, but literally, I experience almost physical discomfort from looking at her -- maybe she assassinated me in a past life or something? Unknown). But I am sure MP is awesome there as well.

Well... the Fringe finale is a two-parter, will that console you?

I think that's for the best, yes.

Maybe you watched the Mists of Avalon miniseries? (Not that Margulies was bad, but even as someone who isn't a fan of the book in any way I'd say the miniseries could turn one off the actors therein.)
OK, "Fringe" will have to get me through. Man, does TVD have a lot to unleash next week --
No, Margulies never scarred me in anything; I'm unaware of ever having laid eyes on her before "ER," a show I never watched in large part because of this irrational aversion. Seriously, it's nothing to do with her as her; something way back in my limbic brain does not like her (perfectly attractive) face, and there's an end of it. A shame, too, as I hear "The Good Wife" is quite excellent.
FWIW, I am catching up on Fringe entirely because of your posts. I lost interest very early this season and gave up on it, but after some of your squeeing about it I have been diving back in. TiVo (which patiently stored them all for me) says I am about 13 episodes behind. I just watched the one about Walter's brain. There's something appealing about watching it while having massive but vague spoilers for later on. Looking forward to Walternate...
