Alaric is definitely setting himself up as slashbait, isn't he? Though this is a happy case of a show that has slashy m/m AND f/f relationships, with interesting het relationships too, and women who get to be central to the story. Will slash fandom ignore it b/c of the latter? We shall see.
We shall see. I could definitely see writing multiships for this, if it wouldn't just be too weird to fic it. As it is, I am happy mentally crossing everybody with everybody.
I want Damon to get elected mayor of Mystic Falls so, so bad, not least because then he and the sheriff can talk/banter/flirt/have naughty wrong sex all the more easily.
I don't read slash I've said many times, but damn, Alaric and Damon slash - Christ help me, I might be on that slippery slope with a smile on my face.
And yes, the writers do tease all sorts of combinations, and IMHO, none of them are so in your face that you're taken aback. It's subtle - setting us up for any number of lines to be crossed.

(Just like I'm going to read the Damon/Alaric, when the gods of free time visit me once more.)
