Spoilers for the season premieres of "Bones" and "Fringe" lurk within this poll, and probably within any resulting comments: ( oooh a poll with tickys lots of tickys )
My personal take is that Booth has been in love with her for a long time, but that Cam's concern about Bones' relationship issues was pretty well-founded. Sweets, on the other hand, was saying a brain scan can prove whether or not you're in love, which I would just like to go on the record as doubting.
Yeah, I don't think either Sweets or Cam meant it badly. In Cam's case, I don't think she was questioning whether Booth loved Bones as much as she was reminding him that he had better be committed to following all the way through, because Bones has her own issues to deal with. That seems sensible for a friend who (a) works with both of these people each day, (b) cares about them and doesn't want them to be hurt and (c) knows that Booth can sometimes vacillate a little when it comes to affairs of the heart. (He doesn't toy with people, but you know what I mean.) In Sweets' case -- what is he even on?
He called her 'baby' and kissed the top of her head, all the while forcing himself not to freak out more. The episode was the shippiest one to date, I feel, and I AM SLIGHTLY IN LOVE WITH IT.
Him kissing her hair was pretty incredibly awesome. ITA about the shippiness, and it worked beautifully. I loved pretty much everything -- from Cam's dress at the bar (AWESOME) to the thing with the clown.
I had great difficulty choosing one shippy moment. I almost chose the conversation in the bar because it includes a key component of the ship: open, unequivocal acknowledgment. In the long term, I think that is more important than what I actually chose, the hurt/comfort scene. In the context of the episode, though, the simple fact that both Bs were in the scene together trumped the implicit confession.
We must now debate the semantics of the word "shippy," as an adjective applied to moment, and so I am filled with joy. Is shippiness best measured by its impact on the pairing? (In which case, ITA about the acknowledgement in the bar.) Or is shippiness the thing that hits you in the gut and makes you go awwwwwwww! like you just saw a pug puppy? (Thus the hurt/comfort.)
exactly -- that is, I had the same thoughts as I struggled with the poll. I guess my vote implies I lean toward the latter. And so then what to call the former category?
I'm not sure I agree. I mean, both pairings involve Hot Old Angry People, which I'm for, but that's pretty much where the similarity ends, so far as I can tell. (Nina and Philip, for instance, appear to get along beautifully most of the time.)
My personal guess about them bringing this out is that they are going to use this to get at elements of each character's past, and in so doing explore Walter and William Bell's past, too. Originally, I know, they wanted to do more with William Bell than Nimoy has signed for, so the writers might be looking at an alternate path at getting at the backstory to our story.
