Why do so many of Olivia's scenes come out sounding euphemistic?

 I've figured out why Part Two is such a bitch to plan.

It's boring, and over the large part of the story, only mildly relevant.

I will have to make it relatively short, I suppose.

That, and the scenes are hardly connected, meaning that I can't simply write chronologically. I actually have to put a lot of thought into structure.

The problem is, I can't really figure out where this scene is going. It sort of halted in the middle of a conversation. Conversation scenes are easy in that they don't require much description or narration. However, they only work when I have an idea of where they're going. The concept is interesting. However, this needs a lot of work.

Don't fully explain the dream and the mental hospital right away. Give a few hints to catch the reader's interest, but wait a little while before fully revealing what happened.

Chapter 1:
1st scene -- Meet some characters and introduce minor conflict.
2nd scene -- Stuff happens.
3rd scene -- Meet more characters. No conflict.

Chapter 2:
4th scene -- Meet more characters. Introduce depressing backstory. Despite depressing backstory, people are happy.

You know when you fill a wine glass with water and then rotate your finger along the edge to make it hum? Yesterday, I was walking near the Puerta del Sol, and I saw a guy doing exactly that, only with an entire set of wine glasses. He was playing a famous symphony on them.

Time to read Vonnegut now.

In other news, I've been watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer on Hulu. They edit out the graphic parts, which seems somewhat blasphemous.

I need inspiration. On a regular basis, because that's the only way I'm going to get anything done.
