Summary of what's going on in my story so far:
Chapter 1:
1st scene -- Meet some characters and introduce minor conflict.
2nd scene -- Stuff happens.
3rd scene -- Meet more characters. No conflict.
Chapter 2:
4th scene -- Meet more characters. Introduce depressing backstory. Despite depressing backstory, people are happy.
5th scene -- Nothing really happens, hints of more depressing backstory, and an emo main character.
6th scene -- Minor conflict.
7th scene -- Action! (Very short action)
Chapter 3:
8th scene -- Shit, bad stuff happened! Everyone freaks out!
9th scene -- Action!
Chapter 4:
10th scene -- Characters argue. Stuff happens. Some big reveals.
11th scene -- Emo-ness happens. Conflict, drama, arguments, emo-ness, but little plot.
12th scene -- Conflict, minor action. Much emo-ness.
Chapter 5:
13th scene -- Arguments, minor conflict, emo-ness.
14th scene -- Introduction of central plot object, and some depressing backstory. Emo-ness.
15th scene -- Backstory in the midst of epic emo-ness. Eventual action, but I haven't finished it yet.
ETA: Looking back, I really wasn't happy with the fifth scene. I thought one character's actions were somewhat rash, and not very believable. Still, I couldn't completely scrap it, because it was important for introducing two characters.
I'm about halfway through the re-write right now. It's much more interesting, and a bit less emo, but I'm also afraid that it will reveal too much, too soon.
