I was pretty sure I didn't want to sit through two hours of the VMAs just to watch a two-minute trailer of The Hunger Games, and I'm glad I didn't. Denise called me about 10 minutes into it, asking if I wanted to go to Denny's. I was hungry, and I figured the trailer would probably be up online later tonight, so I said "yes."

For the last couple of weeks, I've been writing at a desk in my basement which I have nicknamed "The Lair."

It's been very productive. I've finished six scenes this month.

Now I'm sick of The Lair. There are no windows, it's cold, and I still waste countless hours on the internet.

Maybe tomorrow I will go to Borders and write.

 My ARC of Legend by Marie Lu just came in the mail. (Thanks, Rachel!)

It's my first ARC, and suddenly I feel like a real writer.

Since the purpose of an ARC is for promotion, I will post my review of it once I finish the book.

I finished The Replacement and the first scene of Part Two. It's been a very productive day.

In other news, I have possible book titles for the trilogy:

Book 1: The Temple Well
Book 2: (The) Rising Waters
Book 3: (The) Altar of Ice

The trilogy will be referred to as the "Takira" trilogy, because I am unimaginative like that.

 Damn. Now I want to read more Carrie Ryan.

The name of the story is "The Chemistry Test."

I just wrote a book review and I decided to make it "friends only" because I didn't really like the book.

Will a bad review result in bad repercussions if I ever decide to publish? If I submit to agents and publishers who are unaffiliated with the book, then it might not be a problem. The thing is, I heard very good things about this book's ( Read more... )

In popular fiction, it's generally a bad idea to put in pop culture references because then your book is dated, and no one will want to read it in ten years. (Though the bad books put them in anyway ( Read more... )

Last night, I came across this interview. Needless to say, it's a lot of tl;dr, but the ultimate logic fail almost makes it worth reading.

Note: I haven't actually read Terry Goodkind's  Sword of Truth books yet, but I have read several summaries and snippets.
