Before Sanji enters the time machines, a quick mission briefing.

Not that he really had any regrets; a lady's safety was at stake, not to mention the stability of the time-stream, and it wouldn't hurt to get Hajime's well being off his conscience either (not that he cared about him, no way).
Still, he wasn't wearing any rose-tinted glasses about this idea, the concept of Jack's machine simply blowing up the moment he stepped into it being all too easy to imagine for his liking. Being fire-proof was a small consolation when reality as you knew it might explode in your face.
"So... want to run the plan by me?" He spread his fingers suggestively; "I assume we have one?"
He didn't have high hopes for the answer.

"Tch. Of course he have a plan, Curly," Jack snapped, though he was mentally trying to figure out what exactly that plan was. "Or we have a plan for getting you in the past. After that, you're on your own."
He walked over to the time machine and stood in front of it. "The time machine is set to send you back to the time and place the history teacher gave you. You should land not too far from where the missing losers are supposed to be. Find them and get them back to the time portal before it closes, or then we'll have to send a search party back for you, too." He rolled his eyes as though this were sure to happen. "I can't guarantee how long the portal will stay ( ... )

"I'll do it. Don't worry. You can take all the credit after," Derrick said to Jack. He didn't want to be a hero; he wanted his friend and the person with her back. Whether any of the others knew how dead serious he was on making sure the thing stayed active, he didn't know, didn't care. He'd power the machine and get the three of them home or die trying. ... In which case, Morrison would have to take a trip to a mailbox for him.
Derrick gripped his MP3 player. It was fully charged and ready. After looking at the time machine, he looked at the one who would actually be using it. "Sanji, we're counting on you. Bring them back. Please."

But he was still here, riding on a wagon through the unsettled land of early America, and beginning to wonder if there truly was any chance he'd ever find a way back home. He'd gotten used to how things worked around here, he'd come to terms with it. He'd even helped his historical hosts through some difficult trials. But... he didn't want to get comfortable here. Hajime didn't like that feeling, that he was getting used to it. He wouldn't let himself. The past didn't need him there, it had already happened. There was too much left to do in the present.

[The music's playing and a glowing sphere appears from nowhere and hovers by him. More and more are created the longer he listens, casting the place in a soft blue glow. Then he starts to direct each sphere with his arm fully extended and pointing to the time machine. (To help him focus, the point doesn't actually channel anything) Each sphere speeds off in a straight line to its target.]
I wish I could cross my arms, and cross your mind ( ... )

[He is lost in thought when suddenly the girl appears, literally from thin air.]

The portal flared and three figures stepped through. That much, at least, was a success.
Not ten seconds later, the machine gave a loud whine and died, the generators not able to create enough energy to keep it running.
And two tunes bottomed out one right after the other, dropping nearly to silence as Derrick and Alex collapsed to the floor.
"Derrick!" Foxx abandoned the now-defunct machine and bolted to Derrick's side, jerking in pain as the spheres shocked against her skin and in surprise as Blossom beat her there. At least Derrick hadn't hit the floor, and Blossom turning off the mp3 player meant that no more energy spheres were appearing. That was one thing taken care of.
Which left the bigger problem of her unconscious friend.
"Derrick!" she tried again, laying a hand on his shoulder. He was exhausted - something was wrong - and she was at a total loss for what to do ( ... )
