...[opens his mouth, swallows, and looks away. He pours the miso soup into a large bowl, covers it, and does a quick wash of his dishes before he moves on to digging in the cupboard. Rice. Where is the rice.]

Hey Matt, what smells so good?

Have at it. [flips his stirfry in a smooth motion and looks back, almost blank at the effort of not appearing sad] If you're hungry of course.

[Doug didn't really know Matt that well. But he had seen him smile, ironically while the other boy was protecting him on that roof. Perhaps it was just because he knew Al, but he got the feeling that Matt wasn't the sort of person to be this emotionless. But he didn't know him well enough yet he felt to ask.]
Hey, you really saved my butt out there. You know during the attack? I just wanted to thank you.
[He picked up a cookie and started nibbling on it. It was really good and soon he was starting his second one.]

It wasn't anything big. I was saving my own too. But you're welcome. [gives stirfry another flip]

Whoa. These look delicious.
[Looks at the blonde. Yep.]
You made 'em?

I did. You can have whatever you like.

...Why are you making all of this food? Is there another party or something?

There's some good kelp in the back of cupboard over closer to the fridge. If you're making Miso it's the best kind to use.
[Heading to the fridge, she got out several key ingredients for one of the dishes she'd thought of making before saying something else.]
Whatever's on your mind, don't hesitate to talk about it okay? Sometimes it's best to just get it out.
[That said she went to fill the kettle to make some tea, if he thought she was going to let him go without knowing the full story he was sorely mistaken.]
I'm Nana by the way, It's really nice to meet you!

[He carefully made the soup, trying to do it properly. He wasn't Japanese after all...]
Matthew. And thank you, I'm just not sure I want to talk about it. [He gave her a tiny smile and blinked. Tea. He had forgotten to make himself some tea.]

[Don't worry, she'd keep an eye on him and if anything came up that looked like he needed help she'd give him some pointers.]
Nice to meet you Matthew. [She nodded at his second part, though she couldn't understand why people wouldn't want to talk about things that bothered her. She was always running to Junko with her problems when she was in school and even when she'd been in community college.] Then we'll cook! I've got a couple recipes I wanted to try, maybe once your done with the things you'd thought of you could give me a hand?
[All the while she was getting out the required things for team, chatter not pausing as she moved around the kitchen. Now you've got a rough idea of what Sanji and the other kitchen staff have to put up with while they worked sometimes, Matt.]

Maaaaaaaaaathew! I knew I smelled your pancakes! Can I have some please? I haven't had them in a long time.

Sure Peter. Go right ahead. They're there for everyone.

Soooo, Matthew! Wha-- hrmmm... needs more maple syrup! [He pours some more on the pancake in his hand and continues speaking.]
Anyway. What's up with you? You don't look so good...

I've been better. Are you getting used to it here?
