[Doug crutched into the Kitchen thinking he would raid the fridge when he found Matt arduously working on some food thing or another.]

[Matt points out some pancakes and some miso soup. Cookies also are piled up on the counter as well]

Have at it. [flips his stirfry in a smooth motion and looks back, almost blank at the effort of not appearing sad] If you're hungry of course.

[Doug didn't really know Matt that well. But he had seen him smile, ironically while the other boy was protecting him on that roof. Perhaps it was just because he knew Al, but he got the feeling that Matt wasn't the sort of person to be this emotionless. But he didn't know him well enough yet he felt to ask.]

Hey, you really saved my butt out there. You know during the attack? I just wanted to thank you.

[He picked up a cookie and started nibbling on it. It was really good and soon he was starting his second one.]

Oh...

[Doug wasn't sure what to say. Something about how Matt was acting made him hesitant to just offer his help. All the other people he talked to he either knew really well or were more forward. Matt seemed well... he wasn't sure really... He supposed it couldn't hurt to ask at least.]

Is there something bothering you?

Okay, but if you ever need to talk to someone about anything. You know... a neutral party. My ear is always open.
