I so agree with all of your points. I was shocked at how parallel to Ross and Rachel (the early years) this turned out to be because I thought the writers were better than that. Gina of all people! Didn't she and Castle have a sexless relationship? I would buy Ellie the Actress over an awful ex wife. And one thing is for sure, if Gina will be a fixture in season 3, I surely won't be. This is gotten way too angsty to be my "fun show", like it used to be.
This. I hate how writers seem to think that they have to make everyone miserable and mess up their personal lives to have a good show. That was what I liked about Castle; they had normal everyday life type personal lives, none of this heart-wrenching tearing-apart-ppl-who-should-be-together. That's why I stopped watching soap operas. You can only almost put people together then bring in someone else so many times before I get pissed off and give up. And now you just know this is gonna set them way back on relationship progress and it's gonna be all awkward when he comes back and they're gonna go back to pretending they're fine with how things are.

Yes! I wasn't going to say it but I got a definite Friends vibe off of the last couple of minutes. But then again that cliche encompasses most of the sitcoms in the 90's as well.
Yeah I was gobsmacked when Gina, GINA! showed up for Castle. sigh. I think what likely happened is that Castle finally answered his phone and ended up inviting Gina as he was busy licking his wounds instead of writing the manuscript and being a big frakkin baby. I also want to kick his poker buddy's butts! OK 1 book but I would rather have quality writing then 5 books in a year! grrrrrr
I'm hoping the first scene of the new season is Castle ranting about how he had a horrible time over the summer rediscovering how 'orrible Gina is and how he was forced to finish the book as well.
If I were Kate I'd be very careful now about approaching him, since he's obviously got no frakking brains. You don't head BACK to the ex-wife 'cause you can't get the girl you want. Really?
I do think the posting of the first chapter of "Naked Heat" sets up how they reunite in the new season. But I'm not happy with the cheap writing. Could and should have been done better.

And I gave the same rant to my friend last night.
Lazy writing.
Do the same two writers work for every dang show? This is the oldest lame storyline in the book.
You are completely right.
