I have absolutely nothing against people working here at minimum wage, hell, come one come all, do the jobs.

What I have a problem with is people being exploited, under minimum wage earnings, passports being taken, rights abused and their employers getting away with a derisory slap on the wrist. I've seen about 1 case a fortnight on the news, and hell thats the news I manage to see, or take note of. The women being forced into lapdancing or prostitution (if you want to do it fine but not at the risk of your family or life), living 15 to a house provided by your employer because he can, while he garnishes your wages to a degree that your're just working to survive, never mind live.

I've always felt that the "They only do jobs [citizens] won't" argument is horribly specious. Once you say that it's OK to do the job that no citizen is willing to do, and you make that legal, and acceptable, then there's a strong incentive to just lower wages in any given industry, because, well, there'll always be illegal immigrants willing to do it. It's a vicious cycle. There's complications of course, with all the business-owners saying they can't afford to pay the "high price" of keeping people above the poverty level, but in the end, it boils down to "make it legal to import labor for unpopular jobs at slave wages, and the goal of any business will be to make every possible job unpopular so they can pay slave wages."
