Yes, times are tough, BUT, you can get a box of holiday cards pretty cheap these days.  It ends up costing you about 20-30 cents per card.  It costs 42 cents to mail it.  It takes 30 seconds to scribble your name in the card, address it, seal it, stamp it and walk it out to the mail box.  Anyone who ( Read more... )

People who miss a year because they are sick or something, I totally understand. It's the people who MIGHT send one every few years...I've got some folks I've sent to five years in a row. I figure after five years if you don't send one back, then you are off the list.

Not getting cards back depressed me, so for a couple of years, I sent out about 5 people I really wanted to send them to, and didn't bother with anyone else unless they sent me a card first.

This is my first year sending cards to LJ friends.

You wanna know the funny thing? HALF of the cards I HAVE gotten, are from people I met on the InterNet--either cat board or LJ. There are a couple family members that I have not received one from in five years and they are OFF THE LIST after this year.

I haven't sent out cards, but I usually don't because I am indescribably lazy. It's not so much that I don't love my friends and family, but more like I am a useless waste of space most of the time. I just don't like writing cards because then I feel as if I have to write a letter with it because that is what most people do, and I just hate writing letters... and it's sad to be made of such fail, really.

I know receiving cards/letters brightens a lot of people's days, even though they might not send them back, and isn't giving what the holiday season is about?

I completely understand why you feel annoyed though.

I didnt send cards out this year, but I haven't given my address out, either.
(Well, some friends emailed me who said it was okay when I let them know I wasn't sending).

With me, just too much going on and uncertain finances still, leaving me in kind of a lurch :/

People who miss one year don't piss me off--I have had people who were in hospital, or had a death, or were out of work ...
one year not sending back is not like folks who USED to send one, then stopped for *several years*.
