This is just so far from any way I have ever thought about any characters, ever, that I have to do it. None of these questions, or their answers, would ever have occurred to me on my own - not for any character! So that means, of course, that I have to challenge myself to try and answer them. Go on, give me some names! You know you want to.

1. What is your opinion of this character? If you like, explain why you like him/her.
You know, these are two entirely separate questions. My opinion of Ryn is that - as a character in another fandom would say - she is batfuck crazy. But yeah, I do like her. Out of the multitude of OCs I have created, Ryn is still far and away my favorite. I don't think readers, in general, like her as much as I do, but that's okay.
2. Is he/she important to the general plot?
Not really. Her storyline is all tangled up with Anakin's story, the "main" story, but although his story affects hers deeply, the reverse is not really true. Ryn is only the protagonist of her own POV scenes, the same way we are all protagonists in the stories of our own lives. Maybe a little less, actually, as she tends to be very outwardly-focused. But in any case she doesn't have much impact on the story.

I think I'd change the way she's written in the first two installments of the Life in Freefall saga. There's too much surface angst, and I hit the desire and devastation notes a little too hard. One thing I don't think I would change, even though a lot of readers have complained about it, is introducing Ryn as very beautiful in the early chapters. Apparently lots of people don't really want to read about beautiful women, which I guess is understandable, but it becomes important for reasons that don't get their payoff until we visit her home planet in Tangle - it's a mark of her ylfe heritage. And because physical beauty is, admit it, one of the first things we notice about people, I thought - still think, really - that it would have been a little weird to not show the other characters registering that. I suppose I might address it a little differently, by having Obi-Wan give sort of a clinical description. That could have been fun. As far as where the character is ( ... )

I still find this dual question a little strange. My opinion of Anakin is that he is … damaged. And, yeah, I guess I like him. He's interesting, charismatic, fun to watch.
2. Is he/she important to the general plot?
Well … yeah. It's kind of his story.
3. Can you relate to this character at all? Does he/she grip you emotionally?
I don't know if I find Anakin relatable. I certainly find him sympathetic, but I don't think we have much in common, except maybe an "us against the world" feeling about family/friends. He does grip me emotionally, which is probably why I keep writing about him.
4. How much do you like the fandom that this character comes from?
Very much!
5. Do you ship this character with any other character? Or, are you particularly intrigued by his/her relationship with any other character(s)? (romance-wise or platonic)I don't really ship. I think Anakin has interesting dynamics with Palpatine, with Obi- ( ... )

1. What is your opinion of this character? If you like, explain why you like him/her.
As I mentioned to darth_eldritch, this is really two questions. And I feel obliged to point out now that combining them is a little ridiculous. But since that's the meme: a) My opinion of Palpatine is that he is the smartest guy in the room, almost always. It's the "almost" that gets him in the end; and b) I'm not sure what this part is supposed to mean. Do I think he is a decent being? Well, no, he's pretty unapologetically evil. But he is fun to watch.
2. is he/she important to the general plot?
In some ways, Palpatine is the general plot. I mean, you could make the argument that that's Anakin, but the thing is: without Palpatine, Anakin is just an extremely talented, compassionate guy. That's a personality, not a plot. And he's not going anywhere but up, so it's not much of a character arc, either. So … yeah.

Not really. I mean, the nature of Palpatine kind of drives the whole story, doesn't it? I think if his character were changed, it would twist the whole story, and I like it the way it is.
(On the other hand, this is a good excuse for AU fic.)
7. If you were in the fandom with this character or knew this character in real life, how would you see yourself interacting with him/her? Would you get along well? Fall in love with him/her? Dislike? Have a friendly rivalry?
If I were so unfortunate as to meet Palpatine in real life, I would keep my head down and get the hell out of there. Luckily I have no qualities a Sith Lord would likely feel motivated to exploit, so I'd probably be pretty safe.
8. Does this character make the cut as one of your all time favorites (if you like) or least favorites?I'm not sure how to take this question when the character is a villain. But no, I don't think so - except in the sense that he is deliciously underdeveloped in SW canon. I ( ... )
