Wow, so this twin was still alive when he had the operation? The article says there was a jaw, hair...I wonder how developed the head was...if it had a brain at all, or a face.

I remember seeing a similar story on TV a while ago. It was a boy though, and I think the twin had died and was basically a giant tumor by the time it was taken out... if I'm not mistaken. This twin sounds like it was much more developed than in that case.

yeah, kinda got the same impression it was still alive but they gloss over that pretty quick.

Look up Manar Maged for a similar story. She and her parasitic twin were born in Egypt, and the twin was basically an extra head with a little stump of a body. Each twin had her own brain and was able to cry, smile, blink, etc. independently of her sister ( ... )

I think something like that happened to my friend a couple years ago... Hers didn't get that big, but it was softball size, I think, and there were fingernails and bones and stuff in it.

She's doing a lot better since they got it out.

Could also have been a teratoma, which is a weird little mass of semi-organized cells that can grow things like hair, teeth, etc. I don't think they're considered to be parasitic twins, just tumours.
