I'm absolutely terrified of swimming in the ocean, because of jellyfish. I understand that people have safely swum in the ocean for thousands and thousands of years. I'm still terrified.

i was about to say.. i thought snakes were venomous... i had a zoology prof that was rabid about that when someone called a snake poisonous. unless you were cooking and eating the snake, and the meat was poisonous, of course :p

Not that you'd have been able to run the thirty or so metres between the tank and the fridge if you got stung, but hey, it's there.

....to taunt you.

Dunno if that's true, but it made a good story the day we were under renovations and we had to take a group of sleepover kids through the venomous fish backstage area.

That's awesome - both the fact that you told the kids that story, and that kids were having a sleepover at an aquarium.
