Researchers have found a rare spider that lives in South and Central America that, literally, is an herbivore. The reason this is so, so cool is that up until recently, it was commonly thought that spiders were physically incapable of living on plants as a primary food source.

I’m a first time poster and just found this community.

So my father (Ken Yeargan) is an entomologist at the University of Kentucky, and one of the creatures he’s studied is the bolas spider, who has a really nifty way of catching prey.

I know you already have one of these but I thought maybe I could add to the collection.  I found it in my kitchen.  Its a wind scorpion.  Ive read that they're not venomous but those jaws still creep me out.   Its an arachnid but its not technically a spider or a scorpion. Its a  Solfigae (Solpugid).
